Aug 13, 2008 22oz bottle from Casa De Oro Liquor in Spring Valley. Pours a cloudy dark brown with a reddish hue. A small beige ring for a head. Nice aromas of chocolate and dark pit fruits. A fairly light bodied porter, a bit underrated in my opinion.

Jul 28, 2008 I had the Morimoto version. Pours dark brown with an off white head. Faint nutty malt nose. Light and crisp, hops, and nuts are present in the body. It is refreshing especially for a porter.

Jul 20, 2008 (650ml bottle) purchased at 6 mile offsale in colwood. Thanks to joss for sharing. Pours a thin, white head with a deep brown body. Nose of strong cascade hops. Tart hops, descent dark malt base. Enjoyable all in all. Nothing special but enjoyable.

Jul 17, 2008 Deep reddish brown ale with a thin off white head. Deep caramel aroma, a bit nutty malt, lightly oxidized with oily mouth feel. Medium bodied. Rated as Morimoto’s Black Soba Ale. Rated around late Dec. 2006

Red brown, no head.
Light roast, fruit,light pine hops.
Medium body.
Roast aftertaste, grassy finish
Good balance overall.
