smoosh (523), New Albany, Indiana, USA Mar 12, 2005 Draft - at Gravity Head. Malty aroma, as expected. Rich brown color, tightly bubbled creamy head of beige bubbles. Soft on the palate. Sweetens fairly dramatically as it warms. A good one. mj (4975), Colorado, USA Jan 10, 2005 Rogue Pub Eugene. Clear dark orange color with a very small head. Light carbonation, but that may have been the fault of the pub. Spicy flavor, nutty, mellow sweet honey and brown sugar, with a festive leaf and apple flavor. Nose is sweet with a festive fall spice flavor, like fall leaves and nutmeg. frylock (1001), Buffalo, New York, USA Nov 22, 2004 On tap at Rouge’s Eugene City Brewery: Light copper color with almost no head. Lighlty malty and slight toasted aroma. Light sweetness, some toast and light caramel. Faint bitterness in the finish. Not bad, but a style that I generally find boring. goldtwins (4079), Nesconset, New York, USA Oct 17, 2004 Amber color. Aroma is mostly malt. Flavor is malty sweet, caramel. Light hops. It seems to have more alc. than most oktoberfests and not the usual crisp finish. Tasty non the less. harlequinn (2745), Tacoma, Washington, USA Oct 15, 2004 This is a really good example of this style from Rogue. Tastes of sweet honey and nutty caramel malts. Just a bit of a hoppy bite in the finish. Hab40oz (242), Grants Pass, Oregon, USA Sep 20, 2004 great octoberfest beer, nice and sweet malty start, nutty malty aroma with good balance of hops, great tasty body, hope to get a bottle of this brew for the old beer wall in the near future. 5000 (2409), Hardened Liver, Washington, USA Sep 17, 2004 Draught (Rogue Alehouse Issaquah) pours amber, biased towards the orange side, fairly clear, small frothy off-white head, light carbonation, with light lacing. Malty & nutty aroma... quite different from most Rogue brews. Slightly sweet and quite malty on the tongue. Great body and mouthfeel. This is perhaps the best Oktoberfest that I have had this year. Finishes smooth with lingering sweet malts. I would have better notes but seeing as this one isn’t bottled I got rather upset. Highly recommended.
beerinmarch (2781), Alabama, USA Sep 15, 2004 Updated: Jul 9, 2007This brew was a great treat. I was kinda pissed that they didn’t release it in bottles, well at least not on the 15th, but it was a damn good brew. Very malty, nutty aroma. Taste starts very sweet and malty with a good toasted quality to it and finishes with a great hop balance to even it out.
