LilBeerDoctor (442), East Setauket, New York, USA Apr 12, 2008 Updated: Jul 17, 2008 Bottle. Poured a dark brown/amber in color with a thick tan head. Aroma of flowery hops. Flavor predominantly caramel malt, flowery hops, lemon and wheat. Slight tartness. Goes down smooth. I enjoyed this beer a lot--gotta love that dry-hopping!
NJJereme (116), Saint Petersburg, Florida, USA Aug 18, 2008 12 oz. bottle. Pours an opaque amber color with a light white head. Aroma of caramel and floral hints. Hoppy biterness. Light to medium bodied with a bitter finish. Stew41 (859), Caulfield, Australia Aug 17, 2008 Very red in colour (funny that!) with a thin creamy head. A touch of haze as well. I’m starting to get a feel for the house style here as the nose is loaded up with sweet liquored hops, along with a fruity / estery character as well. Sweet spices too. Mega attractive. One sip quickly tells you the flavours are more traditional; bitter dry herbs early, followed by a thickening hop character that gets marginally sweeter on the finish. To my tastes quite bitter for the style. taunusmies (230), Finland Aug 13, 2008 Looks hazy, deep brown-red coloured in the glass. Dry, hoppy, bready aroma with some malts, spices, grass, salty notes. 502Flavors (208), Kentucky, USA Aug 11, 2008 Dry Hopped version. 12 oz into pint glass. Nice clear rich amber nut brown color with a big, lasting and lacing off-white creamy head. Great soft aroma of doughy amber malt coupled with fresh, almost minty pine hop characters. Flavor is a bit softer than the aroma would suggest - a bit watery. The flavor that does exist is great however, and very similar to the aroma - an almost chewy doughy malt character upfront followed by a dry resinous hop finish. As I drink it, a nice oak wood character begins to emerge too. Medium to light bodied on the palate with minimal carbonation - unbelievably smooth. Overall: this stuff is great and very highly drinkable - a perfect session beer. NomDeBeer (129), Baltimore, Maryland, USA Aug 11, 2008 Why does this smell like my cat’s litter box? If it wasn’t for that, this would be a damn fine beer. Very good hop flavor (I just love Chinook hops) that seems more like an IPA than an Amber Ale.
