Spicy malty aroma. The mouthfeel for me was spot-on: this is how most substantial ales, I feel, ought to feel. Strong resiny finish-a great outdoors in cool weather beer, preferably near pinecones so you could put one on a swizzle stick as a garnish for your brew.

I was sore disappointed in this. I like the aroma it develops well, and the beer looks mostly ok but could have done with a head. The taste though is pretty much all forward and there i a duty dry finish. I thought it needed more middle to be better, and I think it’s a confused beer otherwise.

Bottle. Brownish amber beer with a strong head. The aroma is roasted with a slight herbal quality, and the flavour is very bitter and roasted with a hint of maltiness. Overall a nice amber ale.

Never knew Santa was such a hophead. The man in red knows where to hide the good stuff. Just a touch of haze in the amber body. Off white head leaves lots of lacing behind. Aroma of caramel, zesty citrus, and earth. Taste is pretty interesting. Malt has biscuit and toffee notes. Flavor is more hop-forward, though. Chewy pineapple, grapefruit, and some slightly tart berry. This is one that had to grow on me a little. I liked it a lot when it warmed. Pretty bitter for an Amber Ale. I say that as a compliment, of course.

Biscuit and caramel in the malt like a red ale. Lots of bitterness in the hops - lingering in the mouth - like an IPA / modern red. A little spice thrown in for the festive season I guess - thankfully not too much.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Appearance: pours with a large light tan head, the beer is an opaque dark amber or even brown color
Aroma: bread, hints of potpourri
Taste: red tasting malt sweetness, some grain, has some bitterness to compliment the malt,
Palate: light mouthfeel, minimal bitter aftertaste, lively carbonation
Overall: a solid malt forward beer that still has a robust bitterness as well, easily drinkable in winter or summer

Just an ordinary beer. Sweet caramalt and little punch of hop bitterness at the end. Not much to remember, just a good beer.
