COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Rogue’s annual holiday offering, Santa’s Private Reserve, is a variation of the classic Saint Rogue Red, but with double the hops--including Chinook, and Centennial, and a mystery hop called Rudolph by head brewer John "more hops" Maier! This holiday elixir is brewed with two-row Harrington, Klages and Munich malts, along with Hugh Baird 30-37, Carastan 13-17, and Crystal 70-80 malts, plus free range coastal water and proprietary top-fermenting Pacman yeast.

22oz. Sweet nose. Off-white head on redish brown ale. Nutty malt taste followed by extreme hop bitter bite. Its a surprise. Piney. And an odd asprin-medicine linger. Maybe I'll try it again on tap.

650 ml. bottle sampled @ “Brazilian Tasting”. Thank you tderoeck! Contains Rebel & Freedom hops. Lol! Plus half of the ingredients have trademarks. Dark amber, little head. Nose is orange, older pine resin & orange peel hops, old grapefruit peel, sweet malty, watery,… Taste is dull, sweetish & watery with old hops, watery, herbal, old orange peel, grapefruit peel,… Watery, dull & lightly sweet beer. Possibly due to age but if you call something reserve & release it as a Christmass beer it should keep, this one was obv. a hoppy beer and didn’t give (under the assumption that it was much better in the past), label should have stated that this needs to be drunk fresh.

Let me paint you a picture with my imagination brush: A big, beardy and drunken santa figure stumbles in and hands you a bottle. You take swig. Its not the true meaning of Christmas, but you know what he means. Big hops and a nice amber hue, it's got a crispness that I can smack my lips at. Well done again, Rogues, interesting brew, but cinnamon, clove and vanilla would be closer to a Santa-Ale.

Bottle pour. Cloudy copper amber with a large creamy tan head. Aroma is rich malts, caramel, chocolate, and nuts. Medium creamy, yet somehow oily body. Medium bitter and somewhat salty taste. Interesting beer.

Bottle - thanks Brian! Pours crystal clear burnt umber, small tan head, dissipates quickly, decent lacing. Aroma is caramel and pine. Flavor is medium sweet, medium bitter, caramel, pine, perhaps windex. Medium body. Meh.

Poured from a bomber into a pint glass. Aroma- Has a pretty nice aroma of pine, malt and some citrus or floral hints. Appearance- This is a nice looking dark amber with orange highlights, has a fairly thick tannish head. Taste- the other shoe just dropped, I did not care for the flavor. I didn’t care for the mix of hops and citrus. Palate- A medium bodied beer with moderate carbonation. Overall- I just did not enjoy this beer, I will try it again next Christmas time to see if I was off that day.

Red fruit nose, rich roasted malt, dark caramel, orange, hints of cinnamon, bitter hoppy finish. Quite drinkable pale ale, not so xmas’ish though.

Bottle shared by kermis at the BeerTemple, thanks! Amber colored pour with white head. Aroma is hoppy, light citrusy character, some caramel, signature Rogue nose, biscuity. Taste is sweet, light bitterness, decent hoppy flavor. Palate is med bodied, light carbonation. A bit boring.
