COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Rogue’s annual holiday offering, Santa’s Private Reserve, is a variation of the classic Saint Rogue Red, but with double the hops--including Chinook, and Centennial, and a mystery hop called Rudolph by head brewer John "more hops" Maier! This holiday elixir is brewed with two-row Harrington, Klages and Munich malts, along with Hugh Baird 30-37, Carastan 13-17, and Crystal 70-80 malts, plus free range coastal water and proprietary top-fermenting Pacman yeast.

Bottle poured into glass. Decent brew that pours slightly dark brown with a medium white head. Sweet but has a tad of an aftertaste. Not bad but not extraordinary either. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Appearance: pours with a large light tan head, the beer is an opaque dark amber or even brown color Aroma: bread, hints of potpourri Taste: red tasting malt sweetness, some grain, has some bitterness to compliment the malt, Palate: light mouthfeel, minimal bitter aftertaste, lively carbonation Overall: a solid malt forward beer that still has a robust bitterness as well, easily drinkable in winter or summer ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Just an ordinary beer. Sweet caramalt and little punch of hop bitterness at the end. Not much to remember, just a good beer.

22 ounce bottle pours an amber red color. Aroma of hops, but first taste is sweet malt. It does give a bitter finish that lingers after it has warmed. Good beer by Rogue, but not great like a lot of their beers.

12 oz. bottle into my Newcastle glass. Poured a rich red with minimal head and a slight spice aroma. Taste is almost all hops, which is a surprise but pleasant with a little hint of the Christmas spice at the end. Very enjoyable twist on a winter brew. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On tap at Craft Cafe Imazato, Osaka. Bottom of the keg. L: pours a darkish hazy Amber, off white head. S: hoppy pine notes, a sweet caramel, nothing out of the ordinary for an amber. T: quite hop forward, pine resin, caramelised sugar malt backing. F: lingering bitterness, quite a full-body. Not refreshing, just kinda... there. O: a tad flat and uneventful compared to some hoppy ambers. Nothing wrong but nothing stands out.

Draft at Moriartys. Brown pour with frothy tan foam. Impressive lace. Medium-roasted malts with very earthy hops. Peanut shells. Burnt pineapple. Mandarin peels. Driftwood. Portobello mushrooms. Feels a bit odd. Somewhat unpleasant aftertaste. Unusual - but in no way a Christmas beer.

Nice sweetness with a bitter, crisp finish. I like how the taste stays on the palate but very lightly. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
