bgburdman9 (722), Columbus, Ohio, USA Feb 18, 2007 This should not be an americal strong ale. It just seems so weak in the mouth and very watery. It was hoppy but the hops still didnt really have a hop flavor that agreed with me that much. Just an average ale at best.
sneagrams3 (1453), St. Louis, Missouri, USA Oct 10, 2008 Tasted 10/7/08. 22oz bomber. Purchased 12/06. Filtered with a dark golden hue. Off-white ring of head. Slight nose. Medium bodied with good effervescence. Good dose of hops creating a very pleasant bitterness. Toasty red malts. Almost a rye character. Nice lingering bitter acidity. The hops may have dropped a touch with age, but the bitterness prevails. Nice piney tart hop profile. It still holds up, but fresher is better. larsga (2319), Oslo, Norway Oct 8, 2008 Bottle gushes on opening. Medium offwhite head doesn’t alst. Deep amber hazy body. Deep firm raisiny plummy malt aroma with citric notes. Dry strawy resiny malt taste with papery medicinal notes. Mid-bodied. Dry papery aftertaste. This was probably a bit old. Should rerate. (0.355l bottle from Systembolaget, Göteborg.) lumpsowers (87), Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, USA Sep 29, 2008 Very hoppy, floral alcoholic finish. Beautiful pour, thick head and lacing, dark copper color. Some dark fruits, raisins or dates, a little bitter for me. explosivebeer (35), Washington, USA Sep 25, 2008 Nice aroma of hops, caramel, and a little honey. Beautiful clear red color. Nice creamy, lasting head. Apparently Santa really likes his bitterness since this definitely leans that way, with only understated maltiness to balance it out. This has a decent lightly silky body. Overall I’d like this beer better if the bitterness didn’t dominate the experience. ucusty (1214), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA Sep 17, 2008 bottle from 2007 and it was way past its prime. Amber pour with faint hoppy aroma. Mostly sweet malty flavor as the hops were no longer present, making this an unbalanced mess
