Commercial Description:
Rogue's annual holiday offering, Santa's Private Reserve, is a variation of the classic Saint Rogue Red, but with double the hops--including Chinook, and Centennial, and a mystery hop called Rudolph by head brewer John "more hops" Maier! This holiday elixir is brewed with two-row Harrington, Klages and Munich malts, along with Hugh Baird 30-37, Carastan 13-17, and Crystal 70-80 malts, plus free range coastal water and proprietary top-fermenting Pacman yeast.

Had this on tap at Eli Cannons (Middletown, CT) during the Rogue tasting. It was listed as "Santa's Dry Hopped Red Ale". I'm assuming this is the same stuff. Deep red in color, with an almond tan head. Aroma is very hoppy and manly, almost surly. Not much in the way of malt, as far as I can tell in the smoky pub. Flavor is hoppy, with a nice roasty malt balance. Semi sweet, with a grassy herbal hoppiness. Body is medium to full, with moderate carbonation. I wasn't disappointed.

Darkish amber, decent head. Bitter and hoppy initially but finished a bit sweeter. Overall, this was an excellent offering.

Nice lacing down the glass, short off-white head on a dark amber body. Resiny aroma at first but backed by caramel. Mainly notice the bitterness in the taste though it is not too out there, thin enough to have plenty. As an amber ale I quite like this drop.

I was afraid to try it, thinking it was going to have the "Christmas Spices" in it. I was wrong. It pours a dark, slightly cloudy amber, with a moderate off-white head. Hoppy aroma, with a little malt, and spice. Flavor is smooth, nice carbonation, a little spicy, and just a touch of sweet malts. Very pleasantly surprised.

If i had to deliver gifts to a bunch of brats I’d be driven to drink as well. brownish amber colored beer with regular head. Some resiny hop aroma on this with a complex bread malt background. Maybe even some nuttiness in the finish. Palate was slightly thin but nice to see a holiday beer that isnt just full of nutmeg and sweetness.
