blackmurder (164), sadf, Hawaii, USA Mar 19, 2008 Very tasty standard pale. Pours golden smooth with a nice head. Tastes sweet and reminds one of of True Oregonian Landscapes in Spring. jah noth (1015), Rochester, New York, USA Jan 4, 2003 This would be an excellent, drink all night kind of beer. Too bad I couldn’t get this on tap back in college. Easy flowing ale, but with a nice, floral hop aroma and pleasant, but mild, hop flavor. Little malt presence - but it’s supposed to be light and fanciful, and it is. jpm30 (1588), East Central, Georgia, USA Mar 16, 2006 From a distinctive 22 oz. Rogue brown bomber bottle with a blurb about the APA on the side of bottle. Made a good appearance, poured a copper hued golden with a large foamy, bubbly head off-white head that reduced to a sticky, thin bubbly lacing, medium carbonation. Had a nice Amarillo citric aroma, with a balancing caramel maltiness, and of course, the Pacman yeastiness. A smooth, chewy medium bodied mouth feel, good drinkability. Caramel malty with a little fruitiness, a citric bitterness, a touch of earthiness and a dry citric finish.
eaglefan538 (2355), Wilmington, Delaware, USA Jun 11, 2006 Poured a slight orange-brown color, much darker than the usual pale ale color. The head was decent and lacing pretty good. The aroma was hoppy with caramel malts. The caramel malts were stronger than usual for a pale ale. The hopping was of pine and light citrus and herbal qualities. The mouthfeel was moderate for the style, very drinkable overall. Again, the caramel was overplayed for the style, but good overall. eve (240), Iowa City, Iowa, USA Feb 25, 2005 Deep dark gold (that color of yellow snow...) the version I drank was called Seahorse Pale Ale. I can taste a juniper twang, along with dry herbaceousness and nice mouthfeel. Being a gin lover, I thought this was quite pleasant. bfeldmann (1042), Wilmington, Delaware, USA Jun 15, 2006 "Surprised by this one. Poured a light brown color with okay head and good lacing. Aroma was of caramel malts and hops. Flavor was much more maltier then i expected for this style finished with a pine hops. Good beer. " NJBeerman013 (768), Trenton, New Jersey, USA Dec 4, 2008 22 oz bottle. As Gaijin Pale Ale. Pours a coppery amber in color with a strong white head. The aroma is earthy, grassy, and some citrus. The flavor is quite tart and hoppy with a slightly sweet, bready finish. Good as always with Rogue. Jokes (1453), Chicago, Illinois, USA Dec 29, 2002 A pretty nice golden color with a nice, off-white head. The aroma was fairly hoppy, but not exceedingly so. The flavor was really quite nice. Had some nice malt character, before a hoppy finish that was flavorful and slightly bitter, but not the insanity of other west coast IPA/APAs. A wonderful, easy drinking beer.
