Dark brown almost black with big mocha head. Bitter hop smell with a little dark chocolate. And that’s pretty much the taste as well with some roasted malt. Not a bad stout.

Marrom, opaca. Espuma abundante e persistente. Aroma de chocolate e café, que acompanha o sabor, adocicado, com fortes notas de defumado e um pouco de melado. Retrogosto levemente ácido e defumado.

Pours a jet black with serious lacing. Aroma of sweet chocolate and roasted nut. Taste is smooth thanks to the nitro and bitter due to coffee not hops.

Dark-ety, dark dark. But the flavour is actually somehow refreshing. Molasses and dark dark chocolate with a hint of spice. I can't pinpoint where the balancing near citrus kind of zip comes from, but it works.

Poured from the bottle into a tulip glass to drink. The beer had a thick black color with a medium-sized creamy dark tan head with modest retention, but very good cling and lacing. Its aroma features roasty chocolate, molasses, and some toffee with a bit of earthy and grainy hops as well. The taste had a great malty chocolate sweetness along with molasses, coffee, and some grainy and earthy hops blended throughout. The body was watery with a filling mouthfeel and was a touch creamy and wet with good carbonation.

Overall a very good stout. Just a bit bitter to my taste. I prefer a sweet end. Appearance and palate definitely carry this one.

Cellared away for a good two and a half years - well forgotten about to be honest. Into a snifter at just on cool. Black as night and opaque with a steady tan foam. Vegemite, Bovril, peppered Biltong, anchovy, a veritable feast of umami for a nose. Not one for modern text language but OMG! This is silky, velvety and full in body. Big hit of dark chocolate offers plenty of ground for some vinous, peppery notes, ash and charred wood, umami, grilled meat, earth and a tad of bitter/sweet treacle. Roasted malts a plenty. This is a great Stout. Really enjoyed it! (65cL, BB 01/02/14, ?)
