Rogue’s Shakespeare Stout is ebony in color, a rich creamy head and a mellow chocolate aftertaste. It is made from Northwest Harrington, Crystal, and Chocolate malts, roasted barley and rolled oats, along with Cascade hop.

Handpump @Buskers Pub (Rome). Deep black, unclear, massive beige foam. Aroma is nuts, chocolate, alcol, coffee notes and liquorice, so intense. Flavour is powerful, chocolate, coffee with liquorice and bitter end. Medium to high body, flat, rich. Very good!

40cl @ Tap. Oatmeal stout con una bella schiuma bianca, sentori di caffé e cioccolato, finale molto amaro.

On nitro. Deep black color, beautiful rich tan head. Good thick lacing. Extremely smooth creamy texture, with flavors of roasted malts balanced by some hop bitterness at the end. Texture is the thing. Not an amazing palate.

This was the first Rogue beer I tasted and its a good stout but no more. It’s quite plain and not complicated

Appearance is pretty much pitch black, values hint of brown around the edges. A half-finger brown/tan head which doesn’t last long. Aroma- milk chocolate, dark malts, slight roast, coffee, vanilla, brown sugar. Taste- dry roasty notes hit first, bitter chocolate, cold coffee, roast dark malts, quite full and a bit creamy in the mouth, roasty, bitter finish slightly reminiscent of burnt toast, with a hint of vanilla. Nice stout.

On tap at Popeye in Tokyo. Served in a shaker half pint. Sorghum black color with a nice toasted marshmallow colored foamy head. Roasted coffee and sweet malty and chocolate aroma. Creamy mouthfeel and finish. Well-balanced malt toastiness and hop bitterness. Long aftertaste with hints of chocolate.

Total black beer with a small and fast dissapearing brown head. Nose: Coffee, dark chocolate, candy, vanilla and roasted malt. Taste: Coffe from arabic beans, dark chocolate, rich roasted malt, chocolate milk, sweet syrup and some hops. Body: Medium to full body with light carbonation. A great bitterness. Creamy.

Pitch black with a smallish tan head. The smell is sweet - marshmallows, jelly beans, sugar cookies with a little floral hint. The taste doesn’t follow the nose like I had expected. It’s thick in the mouth. The floral essence hits first and then follows with a dark roasty flavor. Not as sweet as I had expected, which is probably a good thing considering how sweet the smell was. Really good beer.

Bottle. Pours a black colour with a thick, creamy tan head. Aromas of oats, cocoa, vanilla, caramel and roasted malt. Tastes of oatmeal, toast, roasted malt and coffee. Full bodied and smooth texture. Roasted bitterness in the finish. A smooth, strong stout but doesn’t taste has it smells.
