COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Rogueís Shakespeare Stout is ebony in color, a rich creamy head and a mellow chocolate aftertaste. It is made from Northwest Harrington, Crystal, and Chocolate malts, roasted barley and rolled oats, along with Cascade hop.

chocolate coffee taste, mellows a bit as it warms. the thick bitterness stays, but some of the sweetness is lost. a nice thick stout - just the way i like íem. The color is soo dark, you could hide behind it. One of the best stouts Iíve had.

This is a perfectly balanced beer with many flavors that dance with each other all the way to the bottom of the glass. This is a dark beer with a dark, frothy head. It goes down smoothly with a strong roasty flavor complemented by a great hop bitterness. This beer should be at the top of any list of stouts.

UPDATED: NOV 19, 2003 I haven't had a bad Rogue beer yet but this is the best so far. I've been thinking about it every day since last Tuesday when I first drank it. Perfectly black with a dark creamy head that looks a little like a chocolate milkshake. The taste and mouthfeel are equally excellent and are much like drinking an espresso flavored glass of thin chocolate milk minus the lactic and sucrose sweetness (although a small bit of that is present) Nice roasty and hoppy bitterness. Comes across a bit thinner than Guinness, but it's also not nitrous dispensed. Give this beer a nitrous dispenser and it will rule the world. Wonderful, Wonderful beer.

as good as a stout gets..perfectly opaque, excellent coffee flavors that linger on and on!

Color of black coffee, none of the reddish notes in many other dark beers. Minimal head dissipates quickly. Aroma has coffee-chocolate, but flavor loses the chocolate in favor of the coffee (not a plus for me). Although I like a healthy dose of bitterness, this comes close to overdoing it. Sweet stout? See Kinmount Willie or Samuel Smith Oatmeal Stout. An okay dry stout, though, along the lines of a *bottled* Guinness.

Drank this beer on St-Patrickís day but that didínt make it any better.Decent head but the mouthfeel is a bit liquid with notes of coffee and black chocolate.Overall, this is a version of the commercial Guinness with more malt but without the great foamy head. Not a very bad stout but not a great one either.Way behind McAuslan stout.

Rogue couldnít make a lousy beer if it tried. One of my favorite breweries ever. I catch them every year at an event called...Sippin by the river in Phila. PA Great beer fdrom Oregon.

Itís a slightly better than average stout, a bit dry, but too chocolate coffee-ish for me (Iím not a big coffee drinker, and I donít like chocolate notes in my beer). If you like chocolate and coffee notes in your stout, then this is a brew for you.

Holy shizzel. This is some great beer. Dark as night, chocolaty, smooth with a great finish. The dude with shades on the label made it that much cooler to drink.

A pretty good stout, not one of my faves but Iíd drink it again. Letís see...brown head that seems thick at first but then disappears when youíre not looking. Nice smell with perhaps a bit of caramel in the nose. Roasted coffee, chocolate tones. Well done bitterness, itís just right. Not sure what the alcohol content is, but if you eat an entire 22 oz bottle on an empty stomach, youíll have a good start to a fun night when youíre through.
