2.5 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
A lose interpretation of a cream stout. A little too bitter for a cream stout for my taste. Is it over-roasting the malt, not using the right hops? I donít know. The finish is bitter and stays with you. Maybe theyíre trying re-define the style.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Blatantly Northwestern in its use of hops, itís nice and roasty-bitter, but not the most representative of the stout genre. It tastes amazing when consumed in conjunction with a Pirouline.

the bitterness did me in. gulp.
i managed to choke down a couple, but maaaan.
i was under the misimpression that this was supposed to be a sweet stout. it is NOT. it is dryer/more bitter than most, in fact.
i seemed to recall having the same reaction to rogueís mocha porter (overly bitter)
iím still looking forward to trying rogueís hazelnut brown. i hope my expectations arenít too high....

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
A good stout and drinkable enough to not make it hard to get through the 22ounces. The palate to me is the weakest part of the beer with not much mouth ípresenceí.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
UPDATED: JUL 2, 2006 Variable experiences with this one, I think this will be my last re-rate. Despite some experiences that were of a dry bitter beer with low malt profile, my early and most recent samplings were more consistent: full malt palate, with roast, chocolate and just a little coffee. Nicely smooth. Piney and citrusy hop aromatics and hoppy finish. One of the hoppier, esp. in terms of finishing hops, of the stouts out there. Overall quite enjoyable.

There seems to be a sharp division of opinion on this beer; Iím with the naysayers unless I find the draft version and it blows me away. Too thin, roasty, and bitter for me. And 22 ounces is an awfully big bottle for any beer that I donít absolutely adore. Give me the Old Rasputin.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
A very good stout, much better than their Imperial stout in my opinion. Bitterness much less apparent and the creamy malty flavors came through better.

This is one of my all-time favorites. It is so good and creamy. I wish all beer was as good as this
