Rogue’s Shakespeare Stout is ebony in color, a rich creamy head and a mellow chocolate aftertaste. It is made from Northwest Harrington, Crystal, and Chocolate malts, roasted barley and rolled oats, along with Cascade hop.

Great shi...schtuff. it has a rich, wonderful full taste that goes far above and beyond the huge pool of average stouts. when you have this, you immediately think "wow, this is gwood stuff!" Nice bitter aftertaste as well.

Dark brown/black. Frothy,tan/brown head. Aroma of chocolate cake, caramel, black malt, roasty, and large amounts of piney, hops. Oily, creamy mouthfeel. Medium body, slightly watery texture. Caramel, bakers chocolate, roasty flavors. Finish is smooth. Molasses with lots more hops. Loses body and flavor as it approaches room temp &loses carbonation.

Too bitter, not at all enjoyable. It seemed like they were going somewhere with this but it ends up being to bland for a sweet and too sour for a stout.

UPDATED: JAN 15, 2005 Beautiful look to it, it pours thicker than Valvoline. It feels hearty and heavy in the mouth. Taste is also thick and juicy. But, for a "sweet stout," not incredibly great. Samuel Smiths Oatmeal Stout is smoother and easier to drink than this. Still drinkable and standard level for a stout, I was just expecting something different. Perhaps I will give it another chance. And Rogue’s chocolate stout blows this out of the water. Drink that instead.

strong and sweet chocolate aroma, very dark black hue with a large frothy brown head, well laced, flavour is of dark chocolate with hints of nuts and coffee, firm bodied with a lingering chocolate finish.

cascade aroma overwhelms all else. i guess i have to work hard to get used to cascade and then i might find some of the things that at the moment seem to be given the big heave-ho. pleasant burnt chocolate cake finish but by the end of the glass it seems as thought there is a little too much baking soda in this particular cake. some saltiness, just doesn't show anything particualrly ineresting

Dark, with a coffee coloured head. Aromas are earthy, sweet and sour. This has a good roast character with plain chocolate bitterness. Smooth and moreish. Not bad!

Dark beer alround, with a lightly hopped aroma and a bitter and slight chocolate flavour. A good dry stout to my taste buds.

More bitter than I expected of a sweet stout. Can taste those cascades. Reminds of storm king but with more chocolate aftertaste. The chocolate finish is a real winner.

Huge thick head. Slight hint of bittersweet chocolate throughout. Finishes slightly dry. Decent, but not a favorite.
