Rogue’s Shakespeare Stout is ebony in color, a rich creamy head and a mellow chocolate aftertaste. It is made from Northwest Harrington, Crystal, and Chocolate malts, roasted barley and rolled oats, along with Cascade hop.

Aroma of chicory and coffee, ebony colour with a lasting well laced brown head. Taste of espresso and chocolate with a watery feel and a mildly bitter palate.

A black beer with a small brown head. The aroma is roasted malt, coffee, vanilla, and nutty. The flavor is bittersweet chocolate, smoky roasted malt, and creamy oats.

Pours very dark, almost black. Chocolate and coffee aromas and flavors. Tastes too much like coffee for my taste

Very dark borwn body, light brown head. Really nice bittersweet aroma heavy on chocolate, with vanlilla, coffee, hints of wood and smoke. Smooth, heavy palate. Balanced flavour with chocolate, a light bitterness with coffee and a dry oatmeal aftertaste.

I love this and for me within the style it is a winner. Pours lovely and the aroma hits you as it pours into the glass. Lovely aftertaste and it lingers. As I said before when Rogue do it right they nail it and they have nailed it here.

On tap at Saturday market. Love the dark body and creamy brown head. Chocolate is super prevalent here, starts and finishes with it. The cascade hops finish nice at the end with the chocolate. The Oatmeal gives nice viscosity to the body

A bit disappointed with this one. Attractive black body with brown head. Roasty lactose aroma. Taste is roasted malts coffee. Overall not very complex but decent. A notch better than a Guinness.

Bottle. Nearly black pour with a nice mocha head. Chocolate, coffee, very roasty with hints of vanilla and smoke. A really great stout.

Transfer from BA review from 6-10-12- Served on nitro-tap in a tulip shaped glass Appearance – Served a nearly pitch black color with a wonderful thick light brown nitrogen formed head. The head was very persistent and lasted the entire drinking experience. Smell – The aroma was of roasted malt and cocoa with a sugary sweetness. The sweet aromas were hard to plac,e but seemed to be mainly of molasses and brown sugar . Mixed with these was a light burnt smell that overall created a nice balance to the sweet aromas of the sugar. Taste – The taste started out of roasted malt and a lighter oat flavor. The cocoa that was detected in the nose quickly came to the tongue. It started out sweet when it arrived due to a nice molasses sweetness the accompanied its arrival, but the molasses started to fade more toward the middle of the taste as some roasted coffee flavors began to develop. These bittered the brew a bit and left a nice, more dry, roasted and cocoa flavor on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The creamy nitrogen driven body coated the mouth, bathing it in all the wonderful flavors of the brew. Being a nitro the effervescence was lighter, this accentuating all those wonderfully slightly sweet dark and roasty flavors. Overall – This was one fine tasty beer. The nitro pour suited all the darker roasted flavors very well giving an overall creamy and satisfying brew.
