4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
UPDATED: JAN 7, 2013 Poured into a snifter. Black. Tan half inch head that lasted a minute, then down to just lacing the rim.
Roasted and burnt malt dominates, but a faint cocoa comes through.
Smooth, balanced malt at first, then toast, ends with a combination of burnt malt and bitterness. Complex, but it all goes together well.
Medium body, moderate carbonation that bites the tongue a little at the end.
Super-duper stout. The stout standard bearer. The burnt malt and bitter hops flavors are great and what I look for in a stout. Not a criticism, but the chocolate really does not come out in the taste.. other than balancing out the bittering hops. I personally like this but be advised that this is not a CHOCOLATE beer.

Lovely black pour w/ a big mocha head that leaves a bit of lacing. The aroma has some nice chocolate notes w/ a hint of some roasted bitterness. The taste is richly full of chocolate upfront & finishes slightly thin w/ some bitterness. This is another fine offering from rogue!

Dip your nose in bitter chocolate before submerging your whole head in deep, smooth chocolatey heaven. The oatmeal shines through to make it feel like you are licking velvet.

A black beer with a small brown head. The aroma is roasted malt, coffee, vanilla, and nutty. The flavor is bittersweet chocolate, smoky roasted malt, and creamy oats.

Pours very dark, almost black. Chocolate and coffee aromas and flavors. Tastes too much like coffee for my taste

Very dark borwn body, light brown head. Really nice bittersweet aroma heavy on chocolate, with vanlilla, coffee, hints of wood and smoke. Smooth, heavy palate. Balanced flavour with chocolate, a light bitterness with coffee and a dry oatmeal aftertaste.

I love this and for me within the style it is a winner. Pours lovely and the aroma hits you as it pours into the glass. Lovely aftertaste and it lingers. As I said before when Rogue do it right they nail it and they have nailed it here.
