UPDATED: JAN 7, 2013 Poured into a snifter. Black. Tan half inch head that lasted a minute, then down to just lacing the rim. Roasted and burnt malt dominates, but a faint cocoa comes through. Smooth, balanced malt at first, then toast, ends with a combination of burnt malt and bitterness. Complex, but it all goes together well. Medium body, moderate carbonation that bites the tongue a little at the end. Super-duper stout. The stout standard bearer. The burnt malt and bitter hops flavors are great and what I look for in a stout. Not a criticism, but the chocolate really does not come out in the taste.. other than balancing out the bittering hops. I personally like this but be advised that this is not a CHOCOLATE beer.

I don’t see a date on the bottle, but the hops are still sharp. It pours like motor oil, and has no light penetration. It smells like a bitter espresso, with some nice malty sweetness in there. It has a bite of hop bitterness on the front of the mouth. Day-old, bitter coffee taste dominates. It gives a medium mouth-feel; very creamy and smooth. It finishes bitter, with lingering coffee bitterness. The hops are noticeable on the finish, adding to the dry, clean finish. This Rogue is well worth the try!

Pours an opaque black with a big creamy brown head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, cocoa, light piney hops and cream. Taste is chocolate, roasted malt with some bite, cocoa and a bit of piney hop flavor. Finishes dry with a nice crisp bitterness from the roasted malts.. Excellent oatmeal stout!

Smells like oatmeal. Pours pitch black with a lot of brown foamy head from bottle. Mouth feel is pretty smooth with just a little carbonation at the end. The taste is very oatmeal like with a good deal of maltiness. Some of the oatmeal sits on the tongue at the end.

Poured opaque black with a 2-finger dark tan head. Aroma of bitter chocolate with a light grainy note. Full body, lightly oily with a soft finish. Flavor of chocolate with a mild burnt note underneath and a grainy note in the finish.

Spina @ fob. Scura con schiuma eterna. Praticamente assente la carbonazione. Corpo abbastanza pastoso ma comunque bevibile, liquirizia e tostatura. Buona! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhold

On tap and nitrogenated. Midnight black with red highlights on the bottom, head like espresso foam. Aroma consists of very dark chocolate and coffee. Flavor much like the aroma with a touch of caramel. Sexy feel: smooth, velvety and big thanks to the nitro. Excellent!

Bottle pour opaque black with thick head the color of hot chocolate. Looks nice. Nose mild roast, butterscotch, cocoa, sweet malt. Taste light bitterness mixed with some roast initial. Smooth mouth feel. Lighter roasted finish. All good flavors, but done in moderation.

Lovely black pour w/ a big mocha head that leaves a bit of lacing. The aroma has some nice chocolate notes w/ a hint of some roasted bitterness. The taste is richly full of chocolate upfront & finishes slightly thin w/ some bitterness. This is another fine offering from rogue!
