On tap (nitro) @ Chuck’s 85th. Pours opaque inky black with thick super creamy nitro head. Aroma is nitro heavy, but dry charred malt stands out. Incredibly creamy, rich mouthfeel. Deeply roasted malt balanced by slight hop bitterness and dark chocolate on the finish. Impressive richness for this low an ABV. Balanced as well. For a non-imperial stout, this is the gold standard.

Scent in the nostiles is roasted barley and chili’s. Deep rich black color. Smooth taste of the roasted barley with hints of choco through out the Flavor profile. Full body brew with beautiful carbonation for this stout. Smooth though out the taste and feel. I would have to give this one of the nicest full body oatmeal stouts I’ve drinking to date. This will be my recomended oatmeal stout two thumbs up on this brew. Nice work Rouge.

Almost black in color with a three finger tan foamy head. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, oats some coffee and slight hops. Taste is bitter with a predominant roasted oats taste balanced by coffee-chocolate notes. Wish the taste of oats would be predominant. Other than that, a drinkable stout. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: MAR 30, 2016 12 oz. bottle from Liquor Barn (Jefferson Commons). Aroma: Rich milk chocolate with caramel chewy candy, light waffle cone and a very light vinous quality. Appearance: Dark garnet black pour with a sticky tan head that settles into a thick, messy ring. Flavor: Chocolate and light oats up front with roasted notes coming in thereafter, leading to a mostly dry, lightly bitter finish. Palate: Light body, slick texture, very soft carbonation, abrupt finish. Overall: Smells and looks nice, but fell short for me with regards to taste and mouthfeel. Still, one could do much worse than this craft beer classic.

Brown creamy weak head. Dark brown colour. aroma is malty with dark chocolate, dark fruits and licorice notes. Flavor is malty too with bread and prunes and dark chocolate tones, ending in a roasty and moderately fruity finish. Medium bodied.

330 ml bottle into a pint glass.Pours black, with a good sized tan head. Nose is burnt coffee and chocolate. Taste is dark roast malt and coffee. Some hop bitterness on the finish to counter the creamy mouth feel. Pretty nice.

Originally rated on 8/8/08.A dark black body that doesnt let any light though, a thin dark tan cap, that left minimal lacing. Aromas a plenty- oak, mocha, chocolate, and roasted nuts. All those also come through in the taste as well as oats,a nd a little smoke, with a nice bitter bite at the end. Creamy and smooth, excellent balance with this stout.
