4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 jpknight22 (171) - Charlotte, North Carolina, USA - MAY 6, 2004Thick, syrupy pour, chocolate head - very reminescent of St. Ambroise Oatmeal Stout. Silky presence in the glass. Soy nose, creamy palate. Lacks a little in the initial flavor punch, but is quickly replaced with a semi sweet chocolate aftertaste.

My first Oatmeal stout, and what a ripper! Do all oatmeal stouts taste this good? Appearance is stout with the added bonus that this beer has some of the most beautiful, intricate lacing I’ve seen. Beautiful plumage! And the taste! Honestly, I can’t pick out the oatmeal, but all the flavours of this beer just seem to get sucked into my tastebuds like there has been a drought or something. Very nice.

On tap at Pete's. A black pour with a frothy, retentive light brown head. Good lacing. Aromas of sugary malt and coffee. Taste is oatmeal, espresso, and a semisweet chocolate finish. A well balanced, albeit bitter stout.

Pours black with a lively, thick, tan head with some lacing after a sip. Syrupy sweet, roasty nose. Creamy and smooth entry with a malty mouthfeel followed by a dark chocolate, roasted nut, somewhat bitter dark roast coffee finish. Where is the vanilla ice cream when I need it?
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Fritz123 (232) - Boca Raton, Florida, USA - APR 13, 2013
Draft at Yardhouse in Boca Raton. Poured into an American pint glass. Jet black, opaque with a thick two-finger off-white head. Almost looked like it was on nitro but it wasn’t. Aroma of chocolate, coffee and roasted malts. The taste wasn’t as complex as I expected but very good overall. The notes of chocolate, roasted malts, slight coffee and bread came through nicely. The mouth was smooth and the after was slightly bitter and dry. Very good job though.

Bouteille 650ml. (2006)

Very deep almost black ruby with medium brown head. Lasting & lacing.
Aroma.. roasted malts, coffee, chocolate, cocoa, bit hops, kinda vanilla
Sweet dominates. But definitely not oversweetened.
Standard, but very decent and well balanced brew.
4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 ComradeK (728) - Blue Mountains, AUSTRALIA - APR 1, 2013
650ml bottle. Pours an opaque black, with a large tan head, which lasts well and leaves very good lacing. Milk chocolate, Irish coffee, port and cream make for an alluring aroma. Herbal and floral hops up front interplay nicely with roasty malt. Smooth milk chocolate and Vienna coffee create a rich, silky body, with the coffee strengthening to a more bitter espresso flavour leading into the finish, where it blends with a mild resurgence of herbal hops. This is a very nicely balanced stout: rich and flavoursome, with just enough hops to stop it from getting bogged down. A thoroughly enjoyable beer.
