3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
The beer has got a very dark, opaque brown body, with a rich brown head. Wonderful lacing and impressive head retention. A truly beautiful stout!
A pronounced earthy hoppiness really fights for the main role in the aroma. However, the strong roasted malt profile is still the dominant. Dark chocolate and coffee, with some toasted bread notes.
The taste is kind of coarse at first, with a very pronounced bitterness and coffee notes. However, after a few moments, it becomes much smooth and a bit more complex. It has a very rich roasted malt profile, with almost tobacco-like notes. Dark chocolate, espresso, a bit of licorice, and oatmeal. The finish is bitter and malty. As the beer warms up, you may get some nice sweetness and a smoother finish. Tasty, yet very roasty, so not necessarily a beer for all.
Medium-bodied. Some carbonation can be felt at first. No real feel of alcohol. Not the most pleasant mouthfeel, yet it is quite alright.
For such a hoppy and bitter stout, this goes down very well. I would not call this a session stout, but this is certainly very drinkable nonetheless.

3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: JAN 25, 2015 35cl bottle bought from cerveteca bar in Lisbon. It pours a deep dark brown colour with a quite large Brown head that lasts well. Aroma is dark chocolate, roasted and smoked malts, oats, dark fruits and vanilla. Taste is oats and other cereals, roasted malts, coffee, dark chocolate, some toffee and a bittersweet feel at the end. Medium to low body, a creamy texture and decent carbonation. That’s officially my first American beer review. So far so good.

Noir avec un col marron. L’arôme du chocolat, réglisse et malt torréfié. Le goût à les mêmes caractéristiques. C’est aussi plein du corps et un peu onctueux.

With Audrie at Brass Tap, Coral Springs, pours a pitch blackbrichbpour with a creamy velvety Java head. Nose is strong chocolate and rich malt. Taste is velvety and smooth ( on the nitro ) with oatmeal and chocolate and some bitterness. Finishes on the same tasting notes and on the same silky texture. Nice ! Quaff Score 8 / 10

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Opaque brown. Quaint brown head lacking retention. Very nice chocolate milk, roast, vanilla, caramel and malt aroma. Typical body for an oatmeal stout. Initially, dark chocolate and roast subtly intertwine, but moments later a pleasant hop and potent dark chocolate taste linger for several seconds. Quite good.
