BeerBlockaid (462), West Palm Biatch, Florida, USA Nov 29, 2007 Shared with a mate at European Street Jax Fl San Marco. At first, was a bit like raw leather and tasted like ass. Mellowed out a bit, and the leather was more defined, italian wools, kind of "jerkeyed meats" and chocolate and coffee notes. Above average hoppy bite that didn’t really hold its own. After about half way, and the bottle warming up, it was surprisingly pleasant. The hops broke out of their shell and the chocolate became more defined.
Fruitfly (29), , Pennsylvania, USA Aug 17, 2008 22 oz bottle. Pours deep brown with a full creamy tan head and large bead. Aroma is carmelled malts and very solid and robust sweetness. Flavour is smooth and sweet, full bodied: like creamy, sweet coffee. Had an excessively carbonated mouth feel. Hopping is light. dchmela (686), Orlando, Florida, USA Aug 16, 2008 Bomber. Pours a blackish red with a huge tan head. Chocolate and coffee dominate the aroma, but I also caught little hints of citrus hops in there, too. Chocolate malt, coffee, bitter hop in the taste. Slightly thin body which makes this an easy drinking stout. Hints of chocolate and coffee in the aftertaste. buzzoven (93), Japan Aug 15, 2008 On tap @ Rogue pub, Portland Airport. I have had this in a bottle a few times in the past, but this pint on tap was surely the tops. A malty, smooth, chocolaty creamy experience. Hints of nutmeg and coffee. Extremely drinker friendly. joebudzjoe (100), Connecticut, USA Aug 12, 2008 22 oz bottle. From the bottle a marshmellow and dark chocolate aroma steams out as a fizzy, tall but thin root beer float brown head cradles the black body. The strong carbonation forms the wet palate. The taste sensation wans like a wave drying sand. Dry dark chocolate aftertaste. Would like a bit more smoothness that the carbonation takes away, I bet it’s much better on draft. WesKBob (145), Bethany, Oklahoma, USA Aug 10, 2008 Pours an opaque black. Thin tan head with decent retention and lacing. Aroma is coffee malt. Flavor has a bit more sweetness with some chocolate notes. A smooth, slightly bitter finish with a coffee aftertaste. Good, but a pretty standard stout.
