Slacks (355), Bolton, Ontario, Canada Sep 14, 2007 650ml Bottle: Pours deep black, thick tan head that settled to a thin but ever-present 1/4-inch. Aroma is heavy with roasted malts, sweet with molasses, odd traces of jelly beans of all things. Taste is thick with roasted malt, quite bitter, but pleasingly so. Very thick mouthfeel, slightly oily but glides down effortlessly. Nice sweet aftertaste with that lingering bitterness, very well done stout.
Chrism86 (78), Melbourne, Australia Sep 6, 2008 Pours jet black with choc orange coloured head. Aromas dominated by coffee and chocolate with hinting dark fruit. Palate is maltier than previously sampled Choc Stout. Displays some liquered fruit and finishes with dry coffee roast and very slight sour tang from oats. Stew41 (876), Caulfield, Australia Sep 5, 2008 Quite classical. Chocolate and roast flavours drive the palate quite convincingly. Good balance and well made. kassner (146), Wexford, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 4, 2008 Dark Amber, modest tan Head, looked just like Mocha porter but with more smoke, less vanilla, and less overall flavor. Too much alike so quite dissappointing for a Brewer of such reputation Chia (19), Bristol, Rhode Island, USA Aug 29, 2008 pours a 1\4 inch tan head, and is a beautiful dark non translucent color. aroma contains hints of mocha and toasted malts with metallic undertones. tastes great surprisingly the metallic taste is great with the roasty barly mocha flavors. very smooth on the palate . nqualls (202), Tennessee, USA Aug 26, 2008 I think this is a great beer, both on tap and out of the bottle. Pours a dark black with a huge tan head. Oatmeal and bitter chocolate dominate the nose, with a slight hint of coffee. Flavor is chocoffee with a bitter finish. A little light for a stout, but the flavor is excellent. If this were a little heartier, it would rank 4.6-4.8.
