650ml bottle suitcased by Ma Jenner in NYC, at some considerable personal expense. Glugging pitch pour capped with dirty beige. Succulent juicy hop aroma (sprinkled with ash) I now recognise as CASCADE. And lots of it. Blindfolded, would swear this was not a stout, but a Warwickshire/American Pale Ale from up the road at Tunnel. Slight body, but it suits. Merciless prickling dry stout lingering with cigar smokiness, charred malt and chocolate. Bitter, bitter high cocoa chocolate shot through with lemon oil and citrussy hop tang. Forceful but not overpowering, and a lip-smacking savoury balance of flavours. When I spilt some on the carpet, I nearly cried.

Sampled at the 12th Annual Knoxville Brewer’s Jam. Pitch black pour with a nice tan head that settles to a nice ring and leaves a coating of lacing on the sides. Chocolately aroma and dark malts offer a slight bitterness. Smooth body and more chocolate, coffee, bitter roasted malts and an even hop finish.

22 oz. bottle. Pours a motor oil black with an enormous tan head. Aroma is not too intense but there is some coffee, unsweetened dark chocolate, and roasted malt. Taste is at first a little disappointing after hearing so much about this. Very watery but also very hoppy for a stout. The espresso and chocolate is still there but now there is a heavy crystal malt, roasted flavor. Alcohol is completely masked by the malt and hops. This is very drinkable, smooth, and not too filling. I am though sad that it is so watery. Of the darker Rogues, I prefer the Mocha Porter over this.

Tasted 05/10/2008. 22oz bottle fron a good friend. Pours black with an airy dark tan head. Grassy dry hops and strong pluger coffee on the nose at first, followed by a faint whiff of citrus fruit and pine-like resin. Smells fry and hoppy, and it is. Dark coffee-like roast barley dominates the flavour, with a good dose of west coast hop flavour through the middle, and an off-dry supporting base malt. Resinous hops and charred toast finish things off nicely. Really nice, and would be superb with a touch more sweetness - I reckon it would have that if it were a little fresher.

22 oz. bottle. Pours a jet balck, foamy head, that dissipates in a few minute. Roasty, coffee aroma. Flavors of roasted malt, coffee, and some molassas sweetness as it warms up. Mighty fine stout.

bomber. dark brown pour with a big brown head that dissipates quick like. aroma of smoke, dark chocolate and coffee. first impression is that it’s really hoppy for a stout. burnt malt, caramel and chocolate in the taste. nice long tinny bitter finish. just a tad bit watery-er than I like for the style. but it’s a pleasure overall and as drinkable as it gets.
