Jul 27, 2008 Well It wasn’t a bad beer but the worst I have had of this style. I don’t like hoppy bitter finishes and this sure had one. I felt it needed a stronger smoke component, I like smoked beers because they have a strong smoke bbq flavor. It was ok, the coloring was nice the scent fragrent, and it worked well when I used some to make Chili but I think Aecht is the best.

Aroma – Nice smoked malt and hops aroma.
Appearance – Amber in color, Thin light head and clear.
Flavor – This was a smokey ale. My first not made from a dark beer this was very good. The smokey flavor did not dominate which was good.
Palate – Great Mouthfeel, Nice texture with a dry finish.
Overall – One of the better smoked beer I have had . The flavor was not so strong as to make you look for the campfire you drank. A very good rendition of a smoked beer.

Jul 12, 2008 Bottle at home with renffisch, 25th June 2008. Cloudy amber with a smoky nose that also has a lactic character. Tastes like a watered down Bamberg rauchbier, with plum flavours too. Average weight. An enjoyable smoked ale, but no Schlenkerla!

Jul 8, 2008 bottle with ethereal. hazy amber, off-white lacy rim. Quite delicate somewhat milky fetid smoke smoke nose. very odd tasting, but not unpleasant, still somehow fatty mouthfeel. notes of burnt beachwood and juniper root. odd.

Jul 7, 2008 Qutie smokey and malty with great balance. There was a bunch of sweet malt in the mid-palate which was rich yet didn’t come off heavy. Another great one for a 4th of July BBQ.

Jun 15, 2008 dark golden, hoppy and smoky.
Reminded me of smoked bacon/pork, one hell of a kick to it. Defenitaly a unique taste. Sharing a bottle is enough for me.
Enjoying the smoked taste might take some getting used to.

Jun 15, 2008 Draught. Pours hazy amber with a moderate off-white head. Aroma is light smoke with some nuttiness and light malts. Flavor is similar, heavy on the caramel malts, sort of an amber with a bit of smoke. Kind of an odd smoked beer; the smoke is much subdued compared to other examples I’ve had. Not bad, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to get it.
