reakt (938), Greater London, England Jan 8, 2008 Bottle from Uto,shared with Mes and Elena, Sim refused to participate as it reminded her of sausage. Deep, opaque amber with only a ring of off white head remaining along the glass. Smokey cheese and bacon, Frazzles crisps to be exact, malt and orangey hops. Honey? Sweet orangey hops, honey and malt underneath with a hint of smoke. Nice syrupy body with a lingering beechwood finish. Smoke is quite subtle and well done as opposed to some more extreme variations, I quite like it... MesandSim (5790), London, Greater London, England Jan 8, 2008 A Mes rate: Bottle thanks to Reakt. Rich dark cloudy amber with a disipating beige head. Smoked cheese and heavy malt aroma and a fair bit of sweetness in the background. The smoke is not quite so apparent in the aroma and in all honesty I could do with a bit more. Bamberg influence is very apparent however but all the way it is clear this is an American product. Sweet malt finish. It’s very straight forward and probably lacking some character. I like the cheese and bacon character and it reminds me strangly of Frazzles (only UK folks are getting that reference). Nice just a bit on the bland side. Walkowiak (21), Northville, Michigan, USA Nov 28, 2007 22 ounce bottle from The Box Bar in Plymouth, MI. A quick pour produced a three-finger, cream-colored head that reduced to one finger in a minute. Amber in color. Aroma is all smoke; nothing delicate about it. Taste is smoky, too, with some malt and a mild hop finish (not the intense hop finish advertised on the bottle. On par with Schlenkerla. Try it. mistersinalin (367), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA Nov 21, 2007 My second smoke beer. I may continue trying, but not with great enthusiasm. I like the beer on the front end, but I’m not understanding the need or appeal of the smokey end. npdempse (931), St. Petersburg, Florida, USA Nov 16, 2007 Hazy red/brown, with a pillowy off-white head. Nose is quite tangy, with light beech smoke, a bit of bitter almonds. Flavor is lightly sweet, with a very nice light smokiness that lingers on the palate, some nutty notes as well. jcwattsrugger (5223), Florida and, New Jersey, USA Nov 12, 2007 22oz bottle-pours a big foamy light tan head and slightly hazy copper/brown color. Aroma is medium malt-smoky, Pac man yeast. Taste is smoky, medium malt, slight spice. OK carbonation. Nicely done, not my style. Nice to try one time. Thanks jwc215 for sharing. stegosaurus (1882), Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 2, 2007 Bottle sampled. Pours deep amber with a thin off-white head. Aroma of smoke, wook, and hops. the flavor is mostly smoke, some traces of oak, with a good balance of hops. Decent body, fair brew. Prcaus (159), New Jersey, USA Oct 28, 2007 23 oz bottle Canal’s Liquor’s Delran, NJ-pre rate for future additions. Dark amber coloing, with strong aroma’s of smoke and spice. Possibly one of the worse beers i’ve ever drank. Taste like a barbecue sauce that has been fermented. Just not my style, however aroma’s and smell are enjoyable. Probably good for cooking.
