Bottle - Pours a hazy amber with a creamy head. Aroma of smoke and malt. Flavor is similar sweet malt and medium smoke with a light spice finish. Not as smoky or "meaty" as other smoke beers I have sampled in the past and fairly drinkable.

1-19-08 bottle.
Thick and cloudy amber brown with little head. Smells slightly of smoked beef jerky - but quite subtle in comparison to other smoked beers I’ve tried. Palate is okay - has a strangely high carbonation. Taste also contains some hints of smokiness - but really nothing too special.

(Bottle) Pours a brown color with a nice looking white head. Rich malty aroma includes smoke and peat. Taste includes similar notes, as well as some sweet toffee, wood and mild hops. The smoke is not overwhelming at all. Very easy to drink, but had a good palate as well. Medium-low carbonation. Another good Rogue product.

Pours a rich amber with a cream colored head from a bomber. Medium thick head and semi lasting. Smell is lightly smoky and malty and a semi rich, nice creamy body. Mild malty tartness and some smokiness in the flavor but somewhat restrained. Pretty easy drinking and mild overall. Nice, but simple and perhaps a bit boring.

22oz. bottle - Pours a reddish orange glow with medium head. Smelled like a camp fire and resin hops. This brew has a smokey smooth flavor with bitter hop finish. Nice medium/heavy mouthfeel that leaves you with a dry finish. Another excellent beer from Rogue Ales. Flavor reminds me of smoked fish and maybe cheese.

Bottled, 650ml, pasteurised. Chestnut colour with light off white head. Certainly smoked in aroma and flavour, no subtleties here Smokey bonfire, damp aroma leading to a wet cardboardy, smoked kipper flavour, fishy, but sweet Just too in your face to be really enjoyed.

Bottle from Uto,shared with Mes and Elena, Sim refused to participate as it reminded her of sausage. Deep, opaque amber with only a ring of off white head remaining along the glass. Smokey cheese and bacon, Frazzles crisps to be exact, malt and orangey hops. Honey? Sweet orangey hops, honey and malt underneath with a hint of smoke. Nice syrupy body with a lingering beechwood finish. Smoke is quite subtle and well done as opposed to some more extreme variations, I quite like it...

A Mes rate: Bottle thanks to Reakt.
Rich dark cloudy amber with a disipating beige head. Smoked cheese and heavy malt aroma and a fair bit of sweetness in the background. The smoke is not quite so apparent in the aroma and in all honesty I could do with a bit more. Bamberg influence is very apparent however but all the way it is clear this is an American product. Sweet malt finish. It’s very straight forward and probably lacking some character. I like the cheese and bacon character and it reminds me strangly of Frazzles (only UK folks are getting that reference). Nice just a bit on the bland side.
