jstraw (750), Chicago, Illinois, USA Aug 3, 2007 Cloudy amber with good head / Restrained smoke, salami nose / Light bodied, thin on the palate without much finish / Pleasant, moderate smoke overlays weak fruit and burnt sugar flavors, and likewise weak malts and hops / Nice handling of the smoke but otherwise a disappointing brew from the reliable Rogue. SledgeJr (2957), Omaha, Nebraska, USA Jul 20, 2007 In the bomber bottle from Beertopia. Pours a cloudy orange-brown color with a medium-sized fizzy beige head that actually sizzles in the glass like a soda pop. The aroma is definitely a smoked ham. The flavor is disappointing: metallic and chemical in nature. The smokiness is not smooth and blended, but seems uncoupled from any maltiness. This is a watery beer for a rauchbier with a finish that is not pleasant to drink like most of its Bamberg counterparts. fishingnet (1045), Brandon, Florida, USA Jul 13, 2007 Bottle. Pours a clear amber with a large long lasting light tan head that leaves good lacing. Aroma is smokey with a hint of caramel and floral hops. Taste is the same as aroma. Medium mouthfeel that finishes dry and smokey and a mild amount of bitterness. Very good. bhensonb (4187), Woodland, California, USA Jul 11, 2007 Bomber. Strong smoked cheese aroma. Coppery color with a beige head that is very large. Smells a bit like chipotle as the glass approaches the lips. Medium bodied, mild carbonation, smoke flavor, some sweet malt, some smoked meat, a hint of hot spice. Really good. Goes great with spicy enchiladas. downender (2537), Bristol, Gloucestershire, England Jun 26, 2007 Bottle. Amber coloured with moderate, off-white head. Aroma of smoked ham and burnt toffee. Flavour was moderately smokey with a light mouth feel and dry finish. Good, but there’s better in Bamberg. JohnnyJ (1283), Carlsbad, California, USA Jun 7, 2007 Pours a orangish amber with pretty good caramel colored head. Aroma of smoke, a little bacon, and sweet malt. Flavors of smoke, roasted malt, and hints of sweetness and grassy hops. MiP (8793), Sønderborg, Denmark Jun 6, 2007 Updated: Sep 9, 2008Bottle at KØ07. Amber colour, small head. Nice smokiness in both aroma and flavour. Also nice mouthfeel. Nice. 7 3 8 3 18
