Pored a firey amber with a medium off white head. The nose was peety and smokey. The taste had smoke up front with a sweet and roasted malt in the back. The finish had a bearly noticable citrusy hoppiness to it, which gave it a slight bitterness in the end. Smoke beers don’t do it for me. And this one; while a good representation did nothing to change my mind.

Amber of color with a nice beige head. An aroma with smoke and notes caramel. A flavor of smoke, notes of fruits and caramel. A well balanced smoked.

I found this a very watery beer, with a bad smokey smell. Maybe it was a bad batch this was not good.

Cloudy amber with good head / Restrained smoke, salami nose / Light bodied, thin on the palate without much finish / Pleasant, moderate smoke overlays weak fruit and burnt sugar flavors, and likewise weak malts and hops / Nice handling of the smoke but otherwise a disappointing brew from the reliable Rogue.

In the bomber bottle from Beertopia. Pours a cloudy orange-brown color with a medium-sized fizzy beige head that actually sizzles in the glass like a soda pop. The aroma is definitely a smoked ham. The flavor is disappointing: metallic and chemical in nature. The smokiness is not smooth and blended, but seems uncoupled from any maltiness. This is a watery beer for a rauchbier with a finish that is not pleasant to drink like most of its Bamberg counterparts.
