Bottle. Pours a clear amber with a large long lasting light tan head that leaves good lacing. Aroma is smokey with a hint of caramel and floral hops. Taste is the same as aroma. Medium mouthfeel that finishes dry and smokey and a mild amount of bitterness. Very good.

Bomber. Strong smoked cheese aroma. Coppery color with a beige head that is very large. Smells a bit like chipotle as the glass approaches the lips. Medium bodied, mild carbonation, smoke flavor, some sweet malt, some smoked meat, a hint of hot spice. Really good. Goes great with spicy enchiladas.

Bottle. Amber coloured with moderate, off-white head. Aroma of smoked ham and burnt toffee. Flavour was moderately smokey with a light mouth feel and dry finish. Good, but there’s better in Bamberg.

Pours a orangish amber with pretty good caramel colored head. Aroma of smoke, a little bacon, and sweet malt. Flavors of smoke, roasted malt, and hints of sweetness and grassy hops.

Bottle, 22oz. Aroma has a weak smoked note, most similar to raw bacon. Color is amber. The flavor is balanced with soft smoke. Slightly woody in taste.

22 oz. bottle. Smoked ham scent, but it’s not nearly as powerful as that of a true Bamberg rauchbier. Hops smell is strong, and there is a touch of floral sweetness. Pours a mostly clear but slightly hazy copper with a golden hue and a moderate amount of uneven, off-white to beige head. The hops are strong in the flavor. There seems to be an odd American pale ale base (I say odd because of the use of continental European rather than Pacific Northwestern hops) poking through the smoke. The bacon smoke taste is unmistakable but, again, not as strong as one might expect. I’m not sure that the hops bitterness meshes well with the smoke flavor, which is a better complement to maltier brews. Hoppy bitter aftertaste. Medium body. Lively in the palate. Easy to drink. This is an interesting brew, but it’s more like two separate beers poured together than a natural, cohesive blend.
