Bottle, 22oz. Aroma has a weak smoked note, most similar to raw bacon. Color is amber. The flavor is balanced with soft smoke. Slightly woody in taste.

22 oz. bottle. Smoked ham scent, but it’s not nearly as powerful as that of a true Bamberg rauchbier. Hops smell is strong, and there is a touch of floral sweetness. Pours a mostly clear but slightly hazy copper with a golden hue and a moderate amount of uneven, off-white to beige head. The hops are strong in the flavor. There seems to be an odd American pale ale base (I say odd because of the use of continental European rather than Pacific Northwestern hops) poking through the smoke. The bacon smoke taste is unmistakable but, again, not as strong as one might expect. I’m not sure that the hops bitterness meshes well with the smoke flavor, which is a better complement to maltier brews. Hoppy bitter aftertaste. Medium body. Lively in the palate. Easy to drink. This is an interesting brew, but it’s more like two separate beers poured together than a natural, cohesive blend.

Bomber: Aroma is Liquid smoke, a bit of hops poking its way through, and Slimjims. Appearance is a cloudy murky brownish/orange with a soda-pop like head that demishes quickly. A nice smoke taste to it, but not the pure liquid smoke like some other smoked brews. A bit of hops and somewhat of a caramel malt texture too. The mouthfeel is carbonated and lively. Overall, It’s not the smoke bomb I had experienced before, and that’s a relief. Pretty decent stuff.

underrated imo. I was afraid this would be over the top smokey but that was not the case, actually very subtle. Smoked ham, sausages and meat in the aroma which is just the typical rauchbier profile aroma. Saaz hops are obvious and not overwhelming. Very well balanced, and perfect hoppiness for the style. I enoyed this!

22oz. Bottle $4.99 Binny’s Orland Rogue’s Smoke Ale poured a slightly hazy copper that turns orange when light gets to it. A 2 finger head formed on a somewhat hard pour that fades to a finger and gets creamy with an eggshell finish. Leaves mopatchy lacing. This beer smells really good. The smoke aroma smells almost hot like you’re right next to the fire. Charred aromas are first and foremost with mild wafts of caramel malts showing through occasionally along with a spicy hoppiness. Not as much smoke in the flavor as in the aroma which is probably a good thing. Caramel maltiness comes through upfront and is accompanied by a very mild smokiness. The caramel leads the way throughout the drink. Mid-palate to the finish the spiciness of the saaz come in. The smoke is barely noticeable until the swallow when it seems to coat your mouth nd throat without being overpowering. Medium body that coats on the swallow. Hop bitterness awakens the tongue but is quickly batted down by the smoke. For a smoked beer this is a rea leasy drinker. Very enjoyable. Another winner from Rogue. I haven’t seen this one around very often but glad I finally got a chance to pick it up. Very enjoyable hoppiness balanced by the smoke. I’ll pick this up again. 3/10/07

Bottle. Hazy brownish colour. Smoky, woody and hoppy aroma. Flavour of smoked ham, wood, hops and malt. Pretty good but bit thin for a smoked.

Bottled. Hazy amber with a rich white foam. Aroma of smoked wood, juniper, ham, crackers and flowers. Smokey flavour of tar and ham with touches of caramel and crackers. Clean medium body. Smoked wood in the finish.

22 oz Bomber-Shared w/ some friends, Pours a copper color w/ a moderate white head & good lacing. Smokey malt aroma. This is definatly a smoked, not overpowering, but it is the first thing you taste. Not as strong or overpowering as some other smoked beers I’ve had, maybe that’s why it’s a lighter color. Think campfire smoke, not smokehouse smoke. Had a sweet smokey finish. Nice beer
