The flavor was slightly sweet, smoky. The smokiness was fairly mild with hints of smoked ham, bacon and peppers. The feeling of the liquid was quite dry, the body was medium. daknole (2889), Plantation, Florida, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 10, 2009 Bomber. The pour yields a moderately hazy, dark amber colored body. A small, foamy, off-white head leaves virtually no lacing behind. The nose is based in caramel and biscuit malt, lightly sweet, with a smoky, savory, alderwood overtone. Flavors are very much the same, lightly toasty and stocked with caramel malt, with a stout smoked element and notes of earthen hops. Medium bodied and balanced, the palate neither disappoints or impresses. Overall, it’s a sound rauchbier that I wold certainly never turn down, but the sweetness is a little overbearing. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Sep 2, 2009 On tap @ Hamilton’s pub: Poured in color a medium mahogany color with a decent sizing of head. The nose does allow for scents of Rogue’s signature malt along with a mild smoky aroma. The flavor is the usual Rogue taste added with a strong smokiness too it, but has a weird astringent aftertaste. badlizard (2341), Berkeley, California, USA
