boboski (1095), Alabama, USA Apr 1, 2007 Orange pour has awful looking tan swirls in it. Small head is very well retained, eventually leaving behind frothy lacing. Aroma is of mild smoke, lightly toasted grains, mellow floral hops and meat that that doesn’t mesh well at all. Flavor is signifigantly more pleasing, though nothing memorable. Smoke is moderate, bitterness is light and the whole flavor is overrun by an earthy and floral tone. Finishes oily and mild, somewhat dry. Palate is smooth and medium bodied with lively carbonation. Forgettable. bitbucket (2026), Kirkland, Washington, USA Apr 1, 2007 Bomber. Pours a clear dark amber with a lacy off-white head. Brown sugar and bacon in the aroma and the taste with a smoky dry finish. A nicely make beer that doesn’t overdo the smoke. Dedollewaitor (3625), Odense, Denmark Mar 26, 2007 Clear amber with white head. Deep malty smoke aroma and taste. Strong spicyness as well. Fine balanced and okay body. Reminds me anyway of the best spice in the underworld -Bacon!!! beermouth (434), Langeskov, Denmark Mar 23, 2007 Clear brown/copper like color with a small head. Got ale with taste of malt, hops, cane sugar and of course smoke. It is really nicely balanced with malt-sweetness and smokeyness. Nice brew again. pforei (338), USA Mar 18, 2007 Pint Glass. Amber color with decent head. Aroma of smoked chees. Taste is smokey and not much else. Not as smokey as most rauchbiers. Dry/bitter finnish. fonefan (10868), VestJylland, Denmark Mar 11, 2007 Bottle. Clear medium amber color with a small fizzy fair lacing white head. Aroma is malty (SMOKEY). flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and light to moderate bitter with a long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. A very nice smoked beer comming from out side Bamberg ;o) railcat1 (578), Orlando, Florida, USA Feb 26, 2007 This was a smokey malty beer and not bad but a little heavy on the smoke flavor. Cletus (5001), Connecticut, USA Feb 26, 2007 Pours a deep amber with a thin but stubborn creamy off white head. Smells of smoke, and fruity with some malt sweetness. Taste is peppery with some smoke. The malt character doesn’t factor in as prominently as the nose suggests. Finish is a bit artificial and weak. Not a very good example of a rauchbier.
