Bottle. Dark reddish color with a nice head. I found this to be an enjoyable amber beer, but didn’t find the smoke character to be as well developed as others (O’Fallon, Alaskan ...).

Smoke is an understatement. It pours a red amber color with a very creamy head. Aroma is blatantly smoked bacon. Taste is very similar, and gets stronger as you finish. Very smooth and palatable with medium lacing. A very hoppy finish with a slight bitterness. Mmm.. Smokey.

Poured a nice looking brownish copper color with a large head, with large bubbles. Lasts pretty long too. Nice smokey aroma here, I love that rauchbier smell. So nice, I wouldn’t mind it in other styles either...Anyway, Beneath that sweetish smokey layer lies a bready caramel malt aroma as well. Not much hops in the nose, more yeast though as it warms. Taste has a wonderful nutty malt quality, very grainy and rye-like, and there’s some smoke in the flavor. This also tastes vaguely yeasty towards the bottom, almost like the Dupont saisons, but not as extreme. Finishes with a tangy hop bitterness that meshes well with all the flavors. Medium to light bodied, slightly gritty feel, perfectly balanced flavors. Smoke is the highlight, but it’s also a team player, and the hop bitterness is something this beer has that others do not. I could see this being even better if it were slightly stronger. Great stuff though.

Thanks to Turdferguson for this one. Dark reddish color with a medium sized off-white head. Malty aroma with hints of sweet apple and a faint note of smoke. The smoke is not faint at all in the flavor. Right there in your face on top of what seems to be a top notch extremely malty ale. I really wish this stuff was readily available in my area. I’d drink it up regularly.

bottle. brown pour with thin head. good clarity. smoky chestnut aroma. very smoky, apple, clean and crisp. nice for a smoke.

Bomber. Pours red-amber with a medium-sized tan head. Aroma is subtle - smokey with some hints of caramel. Tastes of smoked applewood bacon, malts, a little bit of fruitiness. Very little bitterness to be found here. Lightly carbonated with a medium body, dry finish, and way more drinkable than I thought it’d be - it’s nice how the smoke isn’t over the top.

Tap at Barcade. Light brown beer with a thin tan head. Aroma is gorgeous with aroma of applewood and beech smoke over a fruity apple/pear estery background. Low bitterness but it’s there with a touch of pine and spice helping to set off the lovely smoky flavour. Soft palate with a touch of caramel breadiness helping to make the beer a bit more complex. Great balance of smoke, malt, and fruit. My favourite of the night.

22-oz. bottle. Pours amber with a small frothy light tan head, tiny bubbles swiftly rising, spotty lacing. Aroma is light smoke, woodsy, caramel malt (biscuit), yeast (dough), notes of smoked meat. Flavor is smoked meat, ashy wood, caramel nutty malt and yeast, hint of hops at the end. Medium bodied and slight burn on the palate, refreshing.
