Smoky aroma and flavor with a light sweet taste and meat notes. Dickinsonbeer (3434), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA Sep 27, 2005 Pours a medium amber with a nice head and good lace. Aroma is obviously lots of smoke, with hints of wood, bbq, and some smoked meats. Flavor is also smoky but has a slight medicinal note which I find in all smoked beers except spezial and schlenkerla. SOme nuttyness and roasted dark malts throughout with a light sweetness and a light bitterness in the end. StewardofGondor (1934), Washington Heights - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Sep 9, 2005 Nice translucent amber in color with a booming, fluffy tan head in my .5 L boot glass. Aroma produces the customary wafts - bark, goat jerky, hickory, maple syrup oak vats, caramel and butterscotch. A nice, modest smoke profile rolls out the flavor, complimented by ashen, flame licked yellow peppers, rawhide, caramel and a steel twang on the backend. Chicory-roasted dried beef furthers the artistic interpretation. Medium bodied and fairly succinctly balanced, yet carbonation is scaled back perhaps too much. Finishes with beef hide and cedar wood. An enjoyable easy drinker. joss (3633), Garching b. München, Germany Sep 5, 2005 Bottle - sampled at the RBESP 2005

Jeppe (2638), Ølbutikken, Denmark Aug 25, 2005 Pours dark amber/orange with a fine though disappearing tan head. Dominating smoke aroma with a tone of bacon chips. Mostly sweet and malty and pretty full. Malty and slightly smokey flavor. Sweet and full with a dry end. Good complexity, I actually like it.
