~Bottle from Sainsburys. Sparkling with a loose white head. Slightly smokey aroma. Flavour is sweet, smokey and a little tinny. Not enough smoke for my tastes, but good all the same.

22 oz. bottle. Red amber colour with a mostly lasting frothy and fizzy tan head. Caramel, bread, and smoky aroma. Caramel and smoky malts with a woody and earthy flavours and long smoky bitter finish. Medium bodied, smooth and lightly oily mouthfeel.

Bottle from Sainsbury’s. Good ruby red colour. Aroma of smoke predominantly, but not as overpowering as Schenkerla. Smoky, malty taste, little bit like a good Belhaven 80/-. Finish manages to be hoppy as well as smoky. Have I mentioned that its smoky?

Bottle. Light but distinctly smoky aroma with caramel, malt undertones. Drinkably light and refreshing with mellow smoky notes and restrained well balanced hoppy finish.

Pours a beautiful ruby amber, with brilliant red hues when held to light. Long lasting small white head. Brilliant smokey bacon aroma, with some caramel notes there too. Flavour is very similar, but with a slightly hoppy finish. Brilliantly refreshing interpretation of a rauchbier.

Bottled. A mid brown/chestnut coloured beer with no head. The aroma is meaty smoky and a bit oily. The taste is obviously smoky too and although this isn’t as strong as the Schlenkerlas it is still a damn fine beer and would be easier to drink for non-smoke fiends. There is also a fragrant hoppy taste. Personally I love smoke beers and can now add this to the list of good ’uns.

Bronze appearance with a gentle not too dominant smokiness.A medium sized head and left no lacing at all. If you like you smokiness subtle this is one for you.
