| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 16, 2005 Bottle from Sainsbury’s. Good ruby red colour. Aroma of smoke predominantly, but not as overpowering as Schenkerla. Smoky, malty taste, little bit like a good Belhaven 80/-. Finish manages to be hoppy as well as smoky. Have I mentioned that its smoky? Mungo (2474), Southampton, Hampshire, England

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 5, 2005 Bottled. A mid brown/chestnut coloured beer with no head. The aroma is meaty smoky and a bit oily. The taste is obviously smoky too and although this isn’t as strong as the Schlenkerlas it is still a damn fine beer and would be easier to drink for non-smoke fiends. There is also a fragrant hoppy taste. Personally I love smoke beers and can now add this to the list of good ’uns. johndoughty (2156), cheslyn hay, West Midlands, England
