maeib (4677), Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, England May 5, 2005 Bottled. A mid brown/chestnut coloured beer with no head. The aroma is meaty smoky and a bit oily. The taste is obviously smoky too and although this isn’t as strong as the Schlenkerlas it is still a damn fine beer and would be easier to drink for non-smoke fiends. There is also a fragrant hoppy taste. Personally I love smoke beers and can now add this to the list of good ’uns. johndoughty (2150), cheslyn hay, West Midlands, England May 4, 2005 Bronze appearance with a gentle not too dominant smokiness.A medium sized head and left no lacing at all. If you like you smokiness subtle this is one for you. AustinMilbarge (681), Denver, Colorado, USA May 2, 2005 Lighter, hazy, slightly amber color. Mild hop aroma with stronger notes of smoke. The smoke in this is just how I like it, not too much, which may disappoint some lovers of this style. Juelze (889), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA Apr 22, 2005 22oz bottle. Orange-amber color. Smoke and caramel malt taste. Medium body, lightly carbonated. Ok but not my style. Radek Kliber (3926), Toronto (Can) Krotoszyn (Pol), Ontario, Canada Apr 21, 2005 Nicely presenting ale, decent crown on top .Medium intense smoke aroma, softer, creamier at end. Chewy malts with smoky theme. Not as smoky as some are. Good balance. madcow75 (425), Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, USA Apr 15, 2005 Pours dark orange. Medium off white head. There is a definite smoke aroma, maybe a little smoked meat smell. I can taste smoke and caramel malt. Very thin mouthfeel. Ends up being a fairly light and drinkable beer. The aroma had me thinking this would be a bigger beer. joeycapps (1466), Waterdown, Ontario, Canada Apr 7, 2005 Cloudy copper w/ frothy beige head. Smoked bacon aroma w/ some sweet caramel & ash in the background. Surprisingly light-maybe-medium feel. Nice, uncomplicated caramel & smoke flavour w/ light acidic notes & some earthy hops. spkldhenlvr24 (446), Newburgh/Buffalo, New York, USA Apr 7, 2005 A lot better than my first smoked. Not one of my favorite Rogue ales. Pours a lighter brown/deep amber body with big beige head. Funky burnt, smoked, hickory aroma. Has a good smoked salmon flavor. Some decent hops can be tasted. Sorta bland, malty, nutty. Not a horrible beer.
