Pours a clear brown with nice head. The aroma on this beer is strong and certainly smokey. Reminded me of smoked salmon or my clothes the day after a campfire. First few sips were off putting but the brew grew on me as I drank through the bottle. This would not be a first choice but I would like to re-rate in the future.

From a bottle poured a hazy amber color with a good amount of head. Light smokey flavor and lingering aftertaste.

22 oz bottle. Warm golden amber in color. Heavy smoke aroma. The flavor is heavy on smoke, some hops in the background. Drink this one cold, because as it warms the smoke gets pretty harsh. The last sip or two were almost tasting like smoked fish.

Pours a brownish amber with a light head. Dominating smoke aroma, with subtler hints of caramel. Flavour is powerfully smoky, like a barbeque, with feint notes of caramel and vanilla. Interesting beer.

22oz bottle. Pours clear brownish amber, topped with a thin off white head. Smoke aroma nicely compliments caramel and vanilla, and is not overpowering. Carmel hits the palate first, and smoke joins gradually. Milk chocolate and smoke persist for a long finish. Medium bodied and very drinkable. I found this beer much more enjoyable today than when I first tried it about a decade ago. Decent stuff, but not something I’d drink everyday.

Rogue Smoke Ale is a slightly hazy amber ale with a small white head that mostly dissipates and leaves solid lacing on the glass. It has a smokey, slightly sweet aroma with a peaty note. There’s something like beef jerky in the nose. It’s pretty light bodied and crisp, with a finish that’s kind of sharp. Yeah it’s smokey-- almost like barbeque. There’s a tartness from the malt and a spicy bitterness going on too, so it’s not just the smoke going on. It’s a nice blend of flavors and it’s well balanced. It’s an interesting and engaging beer.

Cloudy amber body with a light head. Very smokey flavor underlined with caramel malts. Very smokey taste that stays for a while. Very interesting beer.

(Bottled, 0.65l) Clear, deep amber with a small, firm head. Aroma is dryish, Altbier-like, tarry, smoky, woody and soy-salty. Smoky, dryish and tarry flavor with only a slight caramely sweetness from the smoked malt, and no Schlenkerla-style smoked ham. Medium body, quite soft carbonation, a bit thin. A decent and drinkable smoked, but lacks the depth and intensity of the best German ones.
