Rogue Smoke Ale

Deep amber color, thin tan head. Smoked malt aroma, duh, a bit fishy. Fuller smoked flavor but the beer it’s on could be a touch fuller and maybe even a bit more flavorful on its own. A bit one dimensional but that one dimension is the smokiness and I kinda dig that.

A Rogue is there behind the smoke. I may like it without all the smoke. Thanks MDS, Radekfest 05 sample 28. Medium mouthfeel.

bottle. I picked this up in Detroit and just got around to trying it at Radek’s on Saturday. hazy golden body, orange tinge. smoky ham aroma, very meaty. smoked malt flavour, one dimensional. decent.

Très intéressant, mais trop houblonnée pour le style. Ça ne vaut pas la Schlenkerla. malgré qu’étant accessible, ce pourrait être un bon soulagement. J’ai bien aimé quand même.

Sampled at Radekfest - Thanks! Fishy smoky nose. Its.. uh.. smokey. A bit grainy and fishy. I wouldn’t be able to put down more than a small sample.

Radekfest 05 Bottle. Hazy amber, small white head. Smoke, barbeque charcol in the aroma. One dimensial flavour is all smoke. Average palate. If you go into this expecting this to taste like anything other than what it does, you’ve been misinformed. If you like smoke it’s not bad. I don’t.

22 oz. bottle. Pours a deep hazy amber with a tan head. Aroma is of charcoal and beef-jerky. Like a regular ale with some liquid smoke added. WEIRD and UNIQUE! Nice medium-bodied and well-balanced. This beer is like waking up in the middle of the night and drinking a beer that had been left out in a room full of people smoking cigarettes all night. That or being at a BBQ with smoke blowing up my nose and down my throat. Very unique. My first smoked beer.

Pours a hazy amber color with a thick offwhite head. Subtle aroma and flavor of smoked malt and toffee. Light to medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Not bad but as a smoked beer it doesn’t compare to the divine Schlenkerla.
