lamas (709), Adams Morgan, Washington DC, USA Mar 29, 2005 22 oz. bottle. Pours a deep hazy amber with a tan head. Aroma is of charcoal and beef-jerky. Like a regular ale with some liquid smoke added. WEIRD and UNIQUE! Nice medium-bodied and well-balanced. This beer is like waking up in the middle of the night and drinking a beer that had been left out in a room full of people smoking cigarettes all night. That or being at a BBQ with smoke blowing up my nose and down my throat. Very unique. My first smoked beer. beerbuzzmontreal (2909), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Mar 28, 2005 Pours a hazy amber color with a thick offwhite head. Subtle aroma and flavor of smoked malt and toffee. Light to medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Not bad but as a smoked beer it doesn’t compare to the divine Schlenkerla. guzzler67 (1272), Hanover, Maryland, USA Mar 26, 2005 Cloudy, amber orange appearance. Smoky, leathery aroma, though not as intense as some of the well known Germans. Medium-bodied with an earthy, nicely hopped, slightly nutty taste. Pleasant, dry, lingering finish. aspidites (1274), manteca, California, USA Mar 26, 2005 Somewhat oversmoked for me , not really a Rauchbier fan. reminds me of Aecht Schlenkerla. Great marinade perfect for a tri-tip, and I dont eat beef either. Good mouthfeel with what seems like a touch of diacetyl but cant be sure with the liquid smoked salmon. doostinjcap (43), Newport, Oregon, USA Mar 16, 2005 Updated: Apr 20, 2005Absolutely THE BEST SMOKE ALE! John C. Maier’s liquid camp fire, AMAZING! Light thin head and golden in colour. Lingering finish! Possibly my favorite ale experienced to date. GonZoBeeR (2156), ste-Eulalie, Quebec, Canada Mar 11, 2005 Aroma:heheh smoke....

erway (1002), Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA Mar 9, 2005 Gusher! Very lively CO2. Pours amber with a dense head. Aroma of a barbeque with a faint caramelly maltiness. Body is med lite. Flavor is BBQesque with some background hoppy grassiness. I like the smoothness of the smoke flavors. Really adds a great character and is not nearly as overpowering as some rauchbiers. xenthem0nk (101), Oregon, USA Mar 6, 2005 Tap. Pours a cloudy amber with a small head. The ring never quite goes away. I love smoked brews, but this is the first smoked ’ale’ I’ve had. Honestly, it smelled like nutty smoke, and tasted like beef jerky. :) Very smokey taste, I loved it. Not too thick of a mouthfeel which was nice for a smoked ale. Looking forward to next time I have it.
