Smokey meat, salt and malt aroma. Taste is dry and smokey, woody, lightly salty, finished lightly hopped. Tastes like drinking a campfire. cigarsnbeer (146), Valley City, North Dakota, USA

If you like rauchbier or you just want to try something different give this one a whril. It also goes great with a medium bodied robusto cigar Jine (896), Nutley, New Jersey, USA

I am becoming an increasing fan of the rauchbier style and this does not disappoint in the least. motelpogo (4394), Plzen, Czech Republic

| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Oct 4, 2004 This beer is pure smoke. IT has the quintessential bacony sausage taste. Like chewing on a bullet (but in this case thats a good thing) Very interesting taste, but I do have to say that one must be in the mood to guzzle this brew. Pull up a stool, light a cigar and enjoy Rogue Smoke, and you know what they say, where there is smoke, THERES a fire, cowboy! qdog (201), Cleveland, Mississippi, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 3, 2004 Bottle. Pours a reddish amber color. Head is short lived, off white. Moderate lacing. Aroma is smokey with hints of malt. Smoke flavor dominates, malt balances this nicely. Crisp/dry mouthfeel. This is pairing nicely with my steak. BBB63 (4228), La Porte, Indiana, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 28, 2004 Bottle: Hazed orangy amber hue with a fading fizzy head, minimal lace. The aroma is well...SMOKE, oh some piney hops and mocha malts behind all that. The taste has a tangy citric tone, bittersweet, and again smoky. This would a GREAT beer with summer sausage and aged smoked gouda cheese platter. Still some malty sweetness would provide a better balance. The feel is very dry and woody, fizzy and lively enough. Overall, good enough for matching with foods, but this is one not to try if you know smoky tastes are not your thing.
