Medium pour in a tulip glass
Poured a clear dark fiery orange with an average quickly diminishing off white rocky head.
Smelt strongly of smoked porcine product with a hint of grassy hops.
Taste was upfront heavy smoke with light sweet caramel maltiness followed by a strong bitter piney hop and a slowly fading continuation of the harsh burnt smokiness, with a light hint of fruity banana and light berry hops peeking through at the end on the lengthy finish. Mouthfeel was medium, creamy, lively carbonation and moderate astringincy.
Overall, a great bold and complex tasting Rauchbier. This tasted like the Chipotle Ale without the annoying spiciness that masked the finish. Now excuse while I go enjoy the rest of this with a bag of pork rinds. SHANER4 (387), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA

Smelled like a camp fire and resin hops. This brew has a smokey smooth flavor with bitter hop finish. Nice medium/heavy mouthfeel that leaves you with a dry finish. Another excellent beer from Rogue Ales. Flavor reminds me of smoked fish and maybe cheese. iamqueensblvd (237), , Iowa, USA

Long lasting small white head. Brilliant smokey bacon aroma, with some caramel notes there too. Flavour is very similar, but with a slightly hoppy finish. Brilliantly refreshing interpretation of a rauchbier. Dorwart (1832), Robbinsville, New Jersey, USA

Smells like a thick juicy steak, smothered in terreicki (sp) sauce, that is slowly cooking on the grill. Wonderful! Medium sized frothy white head. Light carbonation. Color is a nice clear dark copper. Flavor is a little fruity with a smoky kick. Very different. Smoke beers are usually just lots of malts and smoke. Pretty thin palate and quite refreshing. Finish is slightly dry and has a lingering smoky aftertaste. A very good and different smoke themed brew. Good job Rogue. AlabastorJones (775), San Francisco, California, USA
