Re-Rate 10/07/02: Deep amber in color, the head is light beige, the lace in thin sheets. Nose is malt, light hints of caramel, bit of smoke. Front is sweet, the top light, the finish once again has a touch of smoke, acidic, dry, fairly well hopped and a decent drinking beer. Ranks #657 on my current 1000 beer master list.

Maple, apple, smokehouse aroma. Deep garnet in color, very hazy, with a creamy off-white head. Sweet, fruity maltiness blends with a goodly amount of charry, woody smoke in the flavor and more of the same in the finish, along with a very faint spiciness from the mellowed hops. Although it is not indicated on the bottle, I believe this to be a vintage, possibly even as old as 4-5 years. I was in the mood for a Smoke beer tonight too, for the first time in a long time.

Nicely presenting ale, decent crown on top .Medium intense smoke aroma, softer, creamier at end. Chewy malts with smoky theme. Not as smoky as some are. Good balance.

Sampled at Brew Ha Ha 2004. Cloudy brown with a huge off-white head. Smoked malt (duh) and peat aroma is striking. Slight sweetness detected before the smokiness overpowers the flavor. Tough on the palate, though, as the smokiness can quicky become overbearing. A difficult style for me to rate.

Delicious smokey smell, yielding to a smooth texture and sketchy palate.

Bomber. Strong smoked cheese aroma. Coppery color with a beige head that is very large. Smells a bit like chipotle as the glass approaches the lips. Medium bodied, mild carbonation, smoke flavor, some sweet malt, some smoked meat, a hint of hot spice. Really good. Goes great with spicy enchiladas.

A nice smoked brew. Not really a big fan of the style but this one is mild enough not to offend. Black mlty brew with the prerequisite liquid smoke flavor. Not bludgeoning though.

Bottle. Dark hazy amber color with a smaller tan head. Smoke, toasted rye bread, with mild hops and malt aromas. Smoke flavors start with hops and malt in the finish. Smoke seem to be fleeting and hops take over. A light smoke ale, very much a begineers rauch. No real fault though.
