Pours mahogany with a thin off white head. Smells and tastes of sticky molasses and resin. Not worth it. Total drain pour.

Older bottle recently. Dark in color with a fluffy head. Aroma is really big. Hoppy, pungent, citrus. Taste is not so balanced here. Mostly hop dominated and very bitter. Pine, dirt, a bowl of fresh cut grass. Lingers for a while.

2006 bottle shared by Ryan and Felicia. Pours an amber color. Aroma is really hoppy, mostly floral and grass. Some malt is noticeable on the aroma. And after 3 years I was shocked at how hoppy this beer was. Very citrusy and grassy with a little malt balance. But the hops were the star in this one.

Had this on draft at capones some time ago. An amber body with an off white head. Huge alcohol driven hoppy character grass y sweet caramel, some citrus, and pine.

Slammed from the bottle. Classy. Lots of grass and citrus in the aroma. Lemon, pine and grass flavor with some caramel in the finish. Could be rougher. Price was pretty rough.

Figured two years aught to do it for this one. Don’t know how it’s considered a double IPA at only 60 IBUs but OK anyway. Cap popped off and when I turned to get my glass I found a volcano spewing from the bottle. After I spent some time cleaning up the ensueing mess I had a beer to pour. Pours cloudy golden brown with a reasonable head. Mostly sweet malt in the aroma reminding me of an aged barleywine. Flavor is more reminiscent of a barleywine as well, some hops left but stale. Malt profile rules at this point more of an american strong than a DIPA. Sweetneess if the aroma. I like it although at this point the stale hops seem to interfere with some of the malt character. Some say this is past it’s prime where I say it’s in a weird middle ground where the hops have faded but a beautiful malt profile is starting to show through. Another year maybe two might bring it out more. Past it’s prime if you were actually expecting hops, but even 6 months, heck you could argue 6 days would be past it’s prime for that. Once again this is not a DIPA, I agree with Funknmilla, at this point the remaining hops take away from this beer. From previous reviews I was expecting a disaster. It’s far from one but maybe because I only paid 11 bucks for my bottle. Very drinkable.

Ceramic Bottle from December 2006..pours a cloudy dark amber with orange highlights..beige head with excellent lacing...mild citrus aroma + malts...has undertones of earth-----sharp hop flavors almost ruin the malts that are there for their protection and mine---as my wounded taste buds continue on, I am only to be struck again by the pursuing hops---the malts try to catch up, but by the time they arrive, its too late---I’m already consumed by bitter finish and the gang of hops---as I regain consciousness, I’m aware that all the blows delivered were not as bad as I expected and it all became mellow in the end---10% tasted like a mere 7%---till we meet again Rogue.........

Crushed with Jakebra. Nothing incredible here. Very citrusy nose with some hop presence. Flavor is aight, but the finish goes from bitter, to citrus, to bitter, to citrus, to dishsoap. Still, it was fun to drink either way.
