Bottle at our Septoberfest party. Hazy dark orange-brown color with a medium thick and foamy beige head that dissipates steadily. Stringy lacing. Aroma of pine, citrus and hops. Medium-bodied with a balanced flavor of toffee, malt and citrusy hops. The finish is a little disjointed, starting off sweet with pops of peppery alcohol. Might bear to age for awhile but it is still a decent brew as is.

Bottle. Loads of pine and citrus on the nose along with some sweet malt. Slightly herbal. Pours cloudy orange/amber. Big creamy off-white head. Dry and piney hops on the palate. Nice malty backbone. A hint of dark chocolate. Orange rind, tangerine and citrus zest. Fairly dry. Full bodied and creamy. Standard American Strong Ale.

On tap. Poured a medium to deeper orange color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of pine, citrus, caramel, and toffee. Tastes of pine, citrus, earthy, and caramel. Gave me pine burps. Alcohol content hidden. The hops were there but balanced out by the malts.

I finally decided to drink this. This is a case of where you have to say it was the novelty of the bottle that you are paying the premium price for. It is different. The beer itself poured a hazy orange with a nice fat head and good lacing. Big nose of citrus and piny hops, and complex malts aromas. Very rich mouthfeel. Flavor is robust, with lots of malts and hops. Average bitter finish. As much like an DIPA as a Strong Ale. You can taste the alcohol in this one. Good though. I think I have have done the right thing by letting it age a little.

bottle shared by thedm and hotstuff - Pours orangish with a substantial head. It has a great hops aroma with lots of grapefruit. The flavor is also highly hopped. I mean it’s really, really hoppy. I was thinking double IPA level though my fellow tasters argued that the hops profile is different and I eventually agreed. There’s some citrus and pine notes in the flavor. There’s some caramel malt in there somewhere, but the hops really overwhelms everything else. It lacks balance. Perhaps as a result, it seems like even more than the stated 60 IBUs. It’s still pretty good, but for the price... ouch.

Bottle: Orangish golden, hazy, large frothy off-white head, clingy lacing.   Musty malt aroma, not much hop aspect coming through.   Very minor citrus peel.   Strong floral aspect on the tongue, followed by some citrusy notes.   Can this actually be a Rogue without an over assertive hop bitterness?   Overall this one has a mild hop presense, equally matched malt apsect, with a floral and citrus tinge that I don’t usually get from Rogue brews.   Its a welcomed change for sure.   Moderate body and mouthfeel.   Finishes a little dull.   Could be a bit more bright or biting.   Oddly enough I would have ever thought of this as being a Rogue prodct if taken a blind taste test.   Probably moreso on the malt end than the hop end... almost a first for Rogue.   Finishes yields some more citrus aspects.   Decent beer, better than I would have expected given Rogues track record on IPAs.   Still not worth the price tho.
