hazy orange, fine white head, thick spidery lace, sweet pine aroma with sweet caramel malts, rich malt flavor with a touch of caramel sweetness, lots of earthy high alpha American C hops dominate the flavor profile and lead to a long bitter finish, touch of citrus tartness

creamy body, hop flavor is a bit more subdued in the bottle but still present, the sweet caramel and pine comes out to add balance and complexity, still a long bitter finish but under control

omg, this was awful for $20/bottle. tasted like pennies and carmel with citrus infused and pale biscuity malts. some candi sugar that seemed out of place as well with brown sugar and clying yeasty mouthfeel.

Sample from growler at Cincinnati beer tasting. It poured a deep golden amber hue. Aroma of spice, vanilla, and a load of hops. The taste is full, somewhat cloying, but with a nice balance between bready malt and citrus, floral hopiness. Overall: Just as the style implies, this is a very strong ale in the hoppy American fashion and is very flavorful and appetizing.

Pours golden with an off white head. The aroma is hoppy with citrus and pine accompanied by a background of caramel. Flavor has grapefruit, spice, and caramel.

This pours a light golden orange body with a slender but good lacing off-white head. The aroma, oddly faint, has a light trace of sweet malt, but it’s mainly pine, grapefruit, and a scrape or two of lemon zest. The flavor begins with a thin caramel taste, but then it’s jam-packed with a strong hop bitterness that brought tears of enjoyment to my eyes. The finish is dry and very bitter for a long, long time. I don’t understand why this isn’t categorized as a DIPA, but it’s a fine brew, regardless.

Bottle sampled on 5/8/07 thanks to moejuck: Pours a transparent bright copper orange with a large light tan head. Fresh, floral piny and grapefruity hoppy aroma has a nice sweet caramel balance. Body starts fairly full and slightly sweet with a bigger earthy bittering hop presence with some fresh, grapefruity notes toward a drier, slightly warming finish. Could use slightly less bittering hops and more malty sweetness.

Pours a deep gold, very clear. Quite a malty aroma. Very carbonated, quickly dissipating head. wow, a lot to this brew. Definitely has a heavily hoppy presence. Alcohol burn, and a bitter hoppy aftertaste, much like a traditonal IPA. Let me repeat, a lot of carbonation. Not the greatest brew but very good nonethless. There is a lot to it. However, the hops are a bit overwhelming, (not that that’s bad, I love hoppy beers) which unfortunately detracted from the complexity of the brew. It was quite difficult to hone in on the other flavors since hops have an ovrpowering presence, not the best balance I could have hoped for.

Draft. Bronze beer with a light tan head. malty, grassy, slight citrus aroma. Light malt flavor with grass and hay flavors. Medium body. Lingering malt and some hops. Well balanced. Easy drinking. Very clean flavor with good hop flavor but not a lot of bitterness.
