| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Jun 6, 2007 Tap at the brewery. Burnt orange/copper/gold appearance with a modest head. Aroma is very floral with some pine and toffee lingering behind that. Flavors of bread, caramel, toffee, flowers and a citrus element (not really specific to a certain fruit). Finishes with a wonderful hop flavor that’s as flowery as the aroma, progressing to dry woody taste and a lightly charred lingering aftertaste. Aside from the charred aftertaste, this smoothness of this beer was pretty remarkable. 10% alcohol? No hint of it to be found. Very creamy mouthfeel. Similar to their IIPA in some regards, yet different enough to justify its existance. Enjoyable and well-made, but I still dream of the day when Rogue will jump further into the extreme, beyond what their imperial stout and Old Crustacean can do. stegosaurus (1882), Levittown, Pennsylvania, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Jun 4, 2007 Need to let this one breathe a minute. Clear caramel orange color with medium-small frothy golden head, dissipating. Grapefruity aroma with notes of honey. Flavor is complex hoppiness, not just the overwhelming acid of an IPA, but also mildly sweet. Thick body with mild carbonation. Very delicious. Smooth, malty and hoppy. Wifey loves me to buy wonderful birthday beer :)! hopson (594), Williamsville, New York, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 4, 2007 Thanks to my buddy Scott for picking up this expensive brew. Clear amber orange in appearence, small white head with some lacing. Thought this was an imperial ipa, but to see it classified as a strong ale is not surprising. Big hop aroma, piney, with a lot of alcohol warmth. A bit thin in the mouthfeel. Overall, although a fine beer, the price is not justifiable given the many options out there. chef201atc (249), Weatherford, Texas, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 27, 2007 Slightly cloudy reddish amber colored pour, quick diminishing slightly off-white head. Nose is dominated by floral hoppiness with some malty sweetness underneath. Medium bodied mouthfeel with a fair amount of carbonation. Flavor is a lot of floral hoppiness – almost to the point of being perfumey. Nice lingering bitter finish. Gets better as it warms. jgentgesdo (564), Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 13/20 | May 26, 2007 Pours an amazing red-gold with a medium off-white head that leaves oil on the glass. Nose is grapefruit hops, alcohol, biscuit, bread dough. The flavor is big, bitter hops, balanced towards pine, with caramel malts towards the end. Full bodied, alcoholic, long lasting bitter finish. Mouthfeel is big, oily. Excellent. BBB63 (4228), La Porte, Indiana, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 26, 2007 Yep the over priced bottle with the snappy flip top and served in my GI IPA Tulip: Clean coppery hue with a fading head and good foamy ring, some lace. The aroma has notes of piney resiny citric peppery hops, biscuity and bready malts and that PACMAN yeast ester. The taste is a very straight up with a initial hop attack that is mostly balanced by the sweeter Vienna malt background. The finish is beautifully hop spiced aka peppery. The mouth feel is slightly biting and moderately sticky, alcohol is mostly hidden. If not for the price this would be a keeper. jj21 (84), Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin, USA

Pours cloudy rust color with a very dense tan head. Tons of carbonation. Huge hoppy aroma of citrus and pine with a good caramel malty finish. Very well balanced between an IIPA and Barleywine. I’m glad I had it on tap because the money fo ra bottle is a bit steep. I could see buying one to cellar for a while.
