Terminus (1955), Las Cruces, New Mexico, USA Apr 24, 2007 bottle-thanks to vyvvy for spending the awful price for this one and for sharing. pours copper with a dense rocky off-white head. nose is carmel malt, green hops, light mustyness and vanilla. carmel and crusty malts subdue the resinous hops here-lots of pine and minty notes. really not the most pleasant of bitterness here. become tiresome over time, but i gave it a decent score for being what it was. Rogue could have done much better with this. 10%? I didn’t taste it, but i definatley FELT it. Man, was i drunk after this one and the Free State C3 IPA. PhillyBeer2112 (2084), Orange Park, Florida, USA Apr 23, 2007 This one is for hops! Aroma dominated by a fairly complex hop profile: piney-grapefruit rind, sweaty, grassy (new mown hay) and a bit of thyme or rosemary. Flavor is tingly resiny hops, with pine, grass, and a rye-bread spiciness near the finish. Huge bitterness. Unbalanced by design, but not entirely pleasant as a result. Well masked alcohol though Lightly hazed nearly pure copper color, with a stiff long lasting head. Tmoney99 (4661), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Apr 21, 2007 Bottle. Poured hazy copper with a large frothy white head that lasted and produced good lacing. Moderate complex sweet citrus aroma. Medium body with a slick texture. Medium balanced hoppy flavor with a medium bittersweet bitter finish of moderate duration. Solid complex beer. jake65 (1658), Williston, North Dakota, USA Apr 21, 2007 Bottle: Pours a slightly hazy golden/orange with a large white head. Nose is hoppy and fruity. A mix of citrus hops, apple cider, and florals. Taste is more hop oriented with a nice dry, bitter tail. Citrus and floral hops with a caramel malt. Not bad, but pretty damn spendy! keith0718 (157), Olathe, Kansas, USA Apr 21, 2007 A decent hoppy ale. Not too bitter, but full of hops. Doesn’t taste bad for 10% ABV. OhioDad (2491), Hilliard, Ohio, USA Apr 19, 2007 Ceramic bottle pours amber with a short offwhite head that stays pretty well. Aromas of good citrus and pine over some pretty well balanced caramel malts. Flavor is strongly hopped with grapefruit and pine but there is a fair amount of caramel, and pale malts there to back it up.. Well balanced and pretty drinkable with an extremely bitter finish.. but honestly for 17.99 a bottle this is crazy.. why the price? Honestly! Expedition Stout should cost $20 a bottle if priced accordingly.. JK (2946), Richfield, Minnesota, USA Apr 19, 2007 Amber color. Light and thin body. Not so pretty to look at. Aroma has an abundance of hops with some herbal qualities. Flavor has more hops and pine. The alcohol is well hidden, I am surprised to see it is so high. vyvvy (2023), Hazelwood, Missouri, USA Apr 18, 2007 Well my final number looks a bit inflated for my overall feeling for the beer. This is one of the worst bang-for-the-buck beers I’ve had. Pours copper and clear with a nice rocky off white head. The aroma is nice with caramel malt, light hops that are fresh and green, creamy honeysuckle and some musty tropical hops. Medium / full body with some semi-sharp carbonation. The taste starts with grainy malt, clean green hops, musty caramel malts and pinecone. The finish has more green hops, spiciness and barleywine-esque malts. This was okay, but due to the slap-in-the-face price tag of $20 this gets a bad value thumbs down . It is not hard to get a good American Strong Ale for a fraction of the price. If I can get a nice Lagunitas bomber for $4 why in the hell would I buy another one of these.
