3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle at Leightonís Beer, Bocce and Boozer tasting, thanks to jackl. It pours amber, with a thick white head. The nose is maple syrup, touch of smoke, bacon and cinnamon. The taste is not as extreme as expected: caramel, maple syrup, hint of smoke, bacon and spice (particularly cinnamon), with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. I was pleasantly surprised that this didnít taste sickly sweet.

1 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 2/20
Dark copper in the glass with a nice white head, looks attractive. Nose has some maple syrup but the predominate aroma is this bizarre, overwhelming chemical/pine needle/herbaceous/rotten thing that I have trouble even parsing, itís like pine sol, cilantro, and some old bananas were dumped on a forest floor, really unpleasant. Things do not improve in the mouth, quite unpleasant sourness throughout, not elegant lambic sour, sour milk sour, with just terrible barnyard/wet straw/old wet bread notes interspersed with artificial, chemical-like flavors, just utterly awful, finishes long which is no blessing, this horrible taste lingers; aggressively bad, which for $12 is really a bit offensive.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle at the Beer, Bocce and Boozer Tasting, London. Thanks Jack for landing this whale. Pours a light, hazy amber with a soft, white foam head. Toasted sugar and smoked malts are obvious in the nose, with lighter notes of caramel, bacon and cotton candy. Medium sweet flavor (not nearly as sweet as I had anticipated) with plenty of greasy bacon, caramel, mild earthy bitterness, nice smoke, ham. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Fairly sweet to finish with light smoke, light caramel, soft hops and restrained bacon. Honestly, I expected this to be some kind of intense novelty beer, but itís actually just a pretty low-key smoked beer. Pretty decent overall.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle @ Beer, Bocce and Boozer tasting. Light brown color with a tiny off-white head. Smells strongly of ham, smoke, maple syrup. The taste isnít nearly as heavy as the nose. Thereís plenty of smoky flavors, meaty ham hock. This isnít nearly as sweet as I thought it would be. The bodyís a bit thin and watery. Light carbonation. Overall, I didnít find this as extreme as I thought it might be. While I canít say I love this beer, I really didnít hate it either. The bottle certainly stands out, too.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Smell is amazing, very similar to a voodoo bacon maple bar. I was surprised to taste the smokiness, I think a better name would be the "voodoo smoked bacon maple beer". I also expected more sweetness from a beer created to resemble a donut. Overall I would recommend drinking this beer once to anyone who loves the combination of bacon and maple.

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
750mL bottle, no date. $14.99 or $13.99 at BevMo! Mission Valley. Clear medium dark amber with a beige head, not long lasting, and originally about one finger. Smoky salty nose with plenty of somewhat sweet maple light powdered sugar notes. I also canít help but think Iím getting a little powdered sugar. Flavor is pretty much the same with a lot less sweetness and some added sulfur, and a fair carbonic bite in the finish, which was dry and ashy with bitterness peaking at a 2-3. Just a little toasty. Canít say as I ever actually got bacon. Low prickly carbonation with a light to medium body. I was actually surprised that the nose was decent.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Dark Cloudy Brown color with a pretty foamy head. The smell is like something out of a Perkins breakfast platter with Maple Syrup, Bacon and Pancakes. The taste is more or less the same with some burnt oak notes and yeasts. The flavors are rich but the smoky notes get in the way of what are otherwise rich flavorful maple and bacon flavors. Itís average bodied with light carbonation and itís fairly creamy. This is clearly a novelty beer but itís certainly one of the better ones out there, if you can get passed the unbalanced smokiness.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Aroma is smoky maple malt. cotton candy. Appearance is dark copper apricot with small tan head. A bit hazy. Taste is smoke forward. Maple malt sweetness very present as well. A very smoky beer though. Fair amount of hops bitterness present. Some creaminess. Palate is medium-. Fairly crisp and refreshing. Not thick and gooey as I had expected. Overalll a very nice smoked beer. It does remind me of smoky maple bacon, though I am not so sure about the doughnut part. Expected a bit more though, especially for the price.... but again, an impressive smoked beer.

4.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
Pours dark orange with a large yellow-tan head. Smells smoky, woody, and sweet. Taste is sweet and smoky. Medium-bodied with a smooth, wet texture and average mouth-carbonation, Rogue Voodoo Doughnut Bacon Maple Ale finishes with some smoke and mild maple syrup sweetness.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Pours a dark amber color with an off white head. Aroma is straight up of bacon, smoke and maple syrup, some woody notes and smoked sausage, and sugar. The flavor follows the nose with lots of bacon and smoke, with some of the maple syrup in the back end, again woody notes and smoked sausage. The body is on the lighter side of medium, with a dry mouth feel. Overall a pretty different brew. Its good, but not something I think everyone will like.
