Bottle. What a crazy beer.........pours golden with a small white head. Aroma is smack your face hickory smokey bacon dough character, a but cakey and tons of maple syrup, aunt jamima up in here. Flavor is just as odd, the doughiness is there to some degree, but lacking sweetness. Loads of hickory smoke, and bacon. I actually ate a glazed doughnut with this and it worked, just needs more glaze sweetness to balance all that smoke and meaty character. Medioum body and a crisp carbonation. Crazy beer all around. I wanna try this doughnut

Big smokey maple ham aroma, fairly intense and well... they nailed that. Flavor comes close, could be a bit sweeter, I see why they went pale, to pick up the breadiness of the doughnut, which they somewhat have done. A successful attempt at something very difficult... now I want to try the chocolate Voodoo Doughnut Bacon Maple Ale.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Reddish orange in color... Aroma is smoky and sweet malts... Flavor is definitely as advertised.... Prevalent rauch malts with sweet bacony maple syrup notes.... Almost like drinking a rauchbier and pounding pancakes and bacon with maple syrup.... Interesting beer, definitely worth a try but not worth buying more than one

Hazy amber, small head. Smokey-sweet-maple aroma. Taste - first and foremost, smoke. Then some bacony-maple-doughy sweetness comes through...ok, guess they named this correctly. This isn’t near as sweet as I was expecting. Also, less body than I was expecting...this is a bit watery. It’s an average rauchbier with a fancy name. Decent but I was disappointed.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from Total Wine. Pours a dark muddy orange with a thumbnail of off-white head. The aroma is indicative of the name with big syrup notes and a hint of roasted pig fat. The taste has more smoke than anything, with notes of burnt twigs, malted syrup, metallic hops in the finish. Medium carbonation and thin/medium body. I could’ve used more body on this to match the fullness of the aroma, but it’s actually not bad for a pseudo-Rauchbier. Definitely not for folks who don’t like smoked lagers.

3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pours a much lighter color than I expected, almost that of darker whiskey. Thin white head. Aroma is light, but once you really dig into it, there is definitely a maple-bacon-esque aroma prevailing here. The flavor, however, is not as good. Bland but noticable in all the wrong places.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
A - pours clear golden red with high white head that disappears quickly. S - aromas of powdered sugar, doughnuts, maple, bacon, smoke, hickory. Amazing, it actually smells like doughnuts, bacon, and maple. M - lighter body, but with very bold flavors, simple palate. Never ending raunchy smokey bacon tastes. Gross. T - light hops, grasses up front. Maple, bacon, and smoke on the palate. The longest lingering gross fatty cheap smokey bacon end. O - strange. Actually smells like doughnuts and maple. Tastes like smokey bacon, very very cheap fatty bacon. After taste is awful, but it was what they said. 6

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Big pink bottle. Pours a light golden yellow with medium white head. Aroma is really smokey, with a bit of maple syrup. Flavor is sweet and buttery, I am definitely getting a Eggo waffle with "maple syrup" flavor here. Not as bad as you might think, very drinkable, though my fiancee could not stand it. If you have ever eaten waffles with a ton of syrup and bacon on the side, and wondered "I wonder what this would taste like as a beer..." than this is for you!

It tasted great with a very sweet, maple syrup flavor. But the taste was nothing like the aroma. I’m not a fan of smoked flavors in beer to begin with, so this was not something I enjoyed. I’m sure some people will appreciate it, but it was one to say that I tried and just leave it at that.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle at Leighton’s Beer, Bocce and Boozer tasting, thanks to jackl. It pours amber, with a thick white head. The nose is maple syrup, touch of smoke, bacon and cinnamon. The taste is not as extreme as expected: caramel, maple syrup, hint of smoke, bacon and spice (particularly cinnamon), with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. I was pleasantly surprised that this didn’t taste sickly sweet.
