2.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
750 ml Pepto Bismol colored pink bottle. Pours a hazy gold with a moderate fizzy pancake colored head that lasted through the first sip and left no lace. The aroma is pleasant and reminiscent of maple syrup and bacon. The flavor is another matter. There is no sign of maple at all. Very smokey, almost like drinking an ashtray. Unappealing. Thin bodied. I finished the first glass I poured for myself but the rest of it I left in the bottle. Disappointing.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle poured into a teku. The beer is a hazy copper color with a white head of foam. The aroma reminds me a lot of a maple stick doughnut. The beer is kind of old, so i wonder if maybe the bacon character has left the beer, because i dont get much if any of that. Very sweet and sugary beer. Not something to drink in quantity, but in a 4 ounce sample this could be fine.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle. Pours a hazy brown beer with a quickly disappearing light beige head. Aroma of bacon, smoke and caramel/syrup. Basically exactly what the beer name says is what you get. Flavor has of bacon and barbecue in there, sweet syrup notes as well. All the flavors you’d expect are in here, so that’s a plus for me. Finished an entire bottle by myself, so I kinda liked it. Really cool stuff they’re trying to do.

Rated based on notes taken 25 Mar 2012 -- From the bottle, didn’t so much taste the maple definitely tasted the bacon. A good smoke beer. Not nearly as good as MBCP from FB though.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Another very unique beer from rogue and voodoo doughnut. Pours a very nice deep red with not too much head. Smells like maple bacon, quite smoky. Taste is maple syrup all the way, with bacon coming in at the finish. A good amount of smokes as well. Not the most complex however. Not as good as their original peanut butter beer, but better then the raspberry. Had in the bottle.

22 oz bottle. Aroma: malty. smokey, with hints of bacon (obviously), toast, burned caramel, burned plastic, and failure. Taste/Palate: thin, sweet; finishes savory, astringent, and shitty. Umm...no.

1.4 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 4/20
Poured from a 22. (I wish it was a 3oz) Aroma is a microwaved bacon smell. Flavor is like bacon chapstick and dishwater. The smoky bacon flavor is completely overwhelming and the maple doesn’t even make an appearance.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
22oz bottle -
The thought of this fantastic concoction, combining donuts, maple icing, and bacon just makes a person’s mouth water. On the surface it sounds like a match made in heaven. And I’m sure if you make it to Voodoo Donuts in Oregon, the real deal has to be insanely tasty. But to try and capture that combo in a beer is indeed a challenge, and I think overall Rogue was successful in doing this. I think this is about as good as it could be without being a big syrupy mess of a beer, with unbalanced flavors. The smokey/bacon aroma shows up nicely in the aroma, with a subtle maple flavor. The doughy donut flavor does show up at first, along with the maple and the bacon, but it’s very watered down. After repeat mouthfulls, the flavors kind of get lost amongst each other with the wateryness. Far from awful, and I give kudos to Rogue for trying this.
