2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 9/20
I bought this on a whim because I needed to spend enough to use a coupon. Living in Florida, Iíve never been to Voodoo Doughnuts. I hear theyíre amazing. If so, this beer is a poor representation. Pours brown with a generous creamy tan head with excellent retention. Faint sour milk aroma. Flavor has some decent chocolate notes up front and a touch of peanut, but thatís where it breaks down. I donít detect any banana at all, and the bitter finish doesnít really fit. Itís not really a hoppy bitterness, either. More like the bitterness you get when accidentally eating a bit of walnut shell. Considering the price, I was really hoping for better.

1.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 4/20
The aroma is a very pleasant scent with the combination of chocolate, banana immediately with hints of vanilla and peanut butter (exactly like banana split Dippin Dots), and the appearance is an opaque brown color with a large caramel-colored head with fairly good retention. Once sipped, the disappointment shows; the palate is more powerful than the mild sour and a touch of umami flavor due to the thin texture, average carbonation, light body, and astringent finish.

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: OCT 25, 2013 Pours nice and dark with a good foamy head and some lace. Smells like peanut and banana they translate to the taste somewhat but a bitter ending ruins the blend. Glad to taste, but wouldn?t want a whole bottle!

2.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
750ml bottle, shared with staff at Dutchís. Dark brown color. Thin light brown. Some decent lace. Man... Thatís an interesting, potent nose. Chocolate and banana, you definitely get that in the smell. Peanut butter is more subtle, but some of it turns up in the aftertaste. Taste is very sweet, in an artificial, extract way... Much too sweet. This beer (or at least the concept) might be alright if they went in a porter direction, gave it a bit more a full body. But itís not portery at all, just a sweet, banana-y, chocolate-flavored ale, which is kind of weak and gross. Thin body, way too quick of a finish, but a long lingering sweet banana and artificial chocolate aftertaste. Kind of tingly crisp carbonation, lightly dry texture. I actually didnít mind my sample of bacon doughnut beer too much, but this is pretty gross. Which is a shame, because it seems like a concept that could have worked well if had been done differently.

2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Sampled at esbls. Almost black with a nice tan head. A sweet nose of chocolate and bananas. It tastes like laffy taffy. Cupcakes, too. But as a beer? Not so much.

2.5 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
75cl Bottle at WWT III. Wow... ehm.. yeah.. Deep dark brown colour, light beige head. Aroma of chocolate & banana milkshake, sickly sweet, chocolate essence. Flavour is dry, cocoa powder, chocolate essence, earth and light bitter roast in the finish. Light- to medium-bodied. Not as dreadful as feared.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Darkish brown with a pale head. Aroma is candy musk sticks, chocolate, fake strawberry candy. Thin bodied, watery, sweet on the palate, short finish. Taste is red vines, Swedish berries. Less interesting than it sounds.
