COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A Collision of Crazies Rogue Ales has again collided with Voodoo Doughnut to create Chocolate, Banana & Peanut Butter Ale! This unique artisan creation contains a baker’s dozen ingredients including chocolate, banana and peanut butter to match Voodoo’s "Memphis Mafia" doughnut- a nod to Elvis’ entourage.

Bottle... Pours black with a mid-sized, foamy, cappuccino head that dissipates quickly. The aroma is of chocolate and banana syrups, and there’s more of a vanilla component than peanut butter. Medium-bodied and watery with buzzing carbonation. The flavor is roasty and burnt - medium bitterness with both chocolate and banana extracts. There’s also a suggestion of roasted peanuts, but not enough to list peanut butter in this beer’s name. Finishes singed, tongue-numbing, raspy and lightly bitter. Elvis would have shit on this. If you’re gonna brew a boutique beer, do it like Funky Buddha or Cigar City. Don’t subtle people to death. I actually enjoyed Maple Bacon Bar much more than this one. At least that one tasted like a sweet, savory donut. It wasn’t great, but at least it was what it was supposed to be.

UPDATED: MAY 3, 2014 The nose is the most interesting thing about this beer, lots of banana, pina colada and vanilla. Taste very different, salty a boy chemical then watery. Fun but nothing to drink again.

Interesting packaging got me to purchase...not a ton of flavor, nice aromas though. Didn’t have too much bite at the end.

Flaska. Var går gränserna om vad som är öl o inte. Tveksamt o kalla denna vätska för öl. Ja det smakar jordnötsmör o banan. Bara det är konstigt. På sin höjd intressant.

$10.49 bomber, Wine Warehouse, Charlottesville. Pours brown, pretty dark, with a frothy large tan head. Smells of candy, peanut butter, cola, and chocolate. Tastes of burnt peanuts, dark chocolate, then cheap chocolate candy. Bleh. They can do better than this. I must say that it tastes better as it warms, but this isn’t great.

Bottle: pours extremely dark brown with a fizzy dark brown head. Aromas are milk chocolate and banana, but I’m not getting peanut butter, although I suppose in a donut I wouldn’t really either. Taste, like the other voodoo donut ale I have had is a bit of a letdown. Tastes artificial, even if it might be what they were going for. Nice idea, poorly executed in my opinion.

Bottle. Black body, decent light caramel head. Smells like a barley wine, with spice, malt, caramel chocolate, and fruit. Taste is cinnamon, cloves, vanilla, lightly nutty, citrus. Body is light, carbonation fine, but ample. Finish is bitter/hoppy, in spite of sweet beginning. Not as bad as I feared.

Bottle. Aroma is sweet chocolate and bananas but unfortunatelly smells artificial. Some caramel and nutts are noticable. The beer is brown with almost no head. In taste again bananas and chocolate, it tasted like sweet, banana flavoured chocolate bar. Medium body, light bitter finish. Very disappointing.

Pours dark brown to black with low light tan head. Aroma of, well, what it says I suppose... There’s banana, milk chocolate, toffee, maybe peanut butter although I’m not really sure what that smells like. It does smell very, very sweet. Not bad, just very unique. I quite like it, actually. Taste is funky as hell, however. The body is the first thing you notice, really. It’s very light, not at all as rich as you’d expect from the aroma (although the ABV might give it away). Then there’s that overly sweet, weird banana-ish flavor that just doesn’t go with beer. And the carbonation that makes it even weirder. This ends up being one of the oddest reviews I’ve ever written. It looks really good, it smells nice, then this entire house of cards just falls apart when you take the first sip. I feel like this would have been so much better if they had pumped up the ABV. Richer body, sweeter taste without the weird off flavors and less carbonation would maybe have made it even more marmite but at least it would have been consistent.
