Overall this is one of the worst beers I think Iíve ever had. Even the owner of the liquor store warned me not to buy it, which should be a red flag but I really wanted to give it a try. Pours a nice dark brown with a moderate head. The smell is overpoweringly banana. Now I donít doubt that they used a natural banana extract but the banana and chocolate combination just smells really fake. Youíre expecting to taste aspartame. The flavor itself is more chocolate and hops but with the banana smell on board itís quite overpowering. It also leaves this muddy artificial banana like aftertaste that lingers for a really long time. Could you learn to love this beer? Maybe if it was the only thing you had to drink for a summer you might get over the banana scent, or maybe if you really like that odor? Itís just a mix that does not blend particularly well. Gotta give them props for trying though and I generally like Rogue so Iím willing to forgive them this experiment.

This was the 3rd beer of the Cannery Row Beer Club. This tasted exactly how it should. This beer costs $11.

Apperance: Dark brown with a nice white head.
Aroma: Smells like sugar and some peanuts, and itís not good at all. And donít forget the garbage aromasÖ
Taste: So many different flavors that donít mix well together. Nuts, banana, toffee and sugar.
Palate: Full bodied, with good carbonation.
Overall: Holy crap, this is so badÖ I love Rogue Ales, but Iíll never forget this abominationÖ

I openly hate Rogue and I mega-hated the last Voodoo Abomination. That said, curiosity is a powerful force, so here I am drinking what is sure to be another egregious beer experience. Poured into a snifter. 3.5 A: Dark brown almost black color. Two fingers of frothy tan head. Retention is about average and a decent amount of lacing is left. 2.0 S: Hmmm. This is certainly unholy and Iím sure that Satan bathes in this, but I canít figure out how much I hate it or even if I hate it. Well, Iím pretty sure I hate it. I guess this is what Iíd expect from a chocolate, peanut butter, and banana plug-in air freshener. It pretty much reeks of artificial. The main and only aromas that arenít blocked out are the banana, peanut butter, and chocolate. For how much this beer cost, they could have used real chocolate and peanuts and got banana out of the yeast, but that wouldnít be the bullshit way of making this. 1.25 T: It certainly also tastes like what is in it - chocolate extract, banana extract, and peanut butter extract. It doesnít matter how good the extract is, itís always the same and itís always shitty in beer. This tastes like a homebrew experiment. The flavors are artificial, donít flow well at all, and are all either too intense or muted. This has way too much bitterness for what it is. Thereís too much astringency (I guess from one of the extracts). The base offers no mediation. I donít care enough to attempt to pick out any flavors below the mess. It tastes like extract. 2.5 M: They even fucked up the mouthfeel. It has a lighter medium body made lighter by the fact that itís overcarbonated. No creaminess and certainly not smooth. 1.0 D: This beer is so shitty and so ungodly expensive that I can only assume that whoever brewed it and whoever priced it are going to be sitting in it someday in Satanís bathhouse. It should be obvious that I would never buy it again. I wouldnít even accept a free bottle. Hell, I wouldnít even accept a free bottle if it came with a good local sixer if it meant I had to drink this again. The only redeeming aspect of this beer is that it scratched my curiosity itch, albeit at great cost. DavoleBomb, Jul 07, 2013

750 ml bottle. Translucent brown topped by a big rocky light tan head. Interesting candy-like cocoa puffs aroma. I do detect hints of peanut butter and banana, as well. Flavor is roasted sweet malt with notes of cocoa, nuts and toasted pumpernickel bread. Little hop prescence. I respect Rogue Ales for their adventurism and creativity, but this is just not very good. It tastes artificial.

Bottle. Pours pitch black, like a stout with a lasting white head. Aroma is mostly sugar. Very sweet beer, some banana and peanut butter in there but very sugary. Drinkable enough, liked the idea although disappointing.

750 ml. Pours opaque chocolate with a lasting film of bubbles. Nose is chocolate glaze with a sourish fruit overtone, like an apple-strawberry juice. Flavor is more of the same plus some toasted nut and cola. I get some banana after a while, as well as some wooden notes in the long finish. Near-medium body is balanced by the acidity and has medium-high carbonation. Pretty much a mess, but not quite a drainpour.
