3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle: The aroma consists of light-moderate chocolate cake, light raspberry, and faint coffee. It pours a dark brown with some faint orange highlights around the edges of the glass. It has a one finger tan head that eventually fades to a thin film outlined by a slightly thicker ring. There is some thin webbing left on the sides of the glass. The flavor starts with a quick dose of light milk chocolate and raspberry. The finish has light roasted coffee and a hint of nuts. I keep looking for some saltiness that would come from the pretzels, but Iím not getting any. Itís light-medium bodied with minimal carbonation and a mouthfeel that almost feels flat. Overall, itís okay. While I get some chocolate cake in the aroma, I canít say thereís anything in the flavor of this beer that makes me think of a doughnut. I donít factor this into my rating, but this is rather pricey for what it is.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Smells sweet, with raspberry and chocolate, but seems a bit artificial. It really doesnít smell too pleasant to me. Pours a dark brown - almost looking like a stout. First taste was overwhelming raspberry jam. After drinking more I get the chocolate upfront, followed by raspberry. The "pretzel" comes across more as coffee to me. Very thin body. I wish it was a stout. I do not know why I continue to try these.

3.7 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 16/20
Poured from a bottle with a dark mahogany color and a very thin, quickly dissipating tan head. Has a nice raspberry and chocolate aroma. First few sips are a wonderful mix of raspberry and chocolate before the flavors become more subtle. I have no idea where the pretzel comes in. The body is a bit weak, unfortunately. Somebody on the site says this should be a stout and I agree. Still, I rather enjoyed this, a bit more than most here, but I tend to like fruit beers and anything unusual.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pretty much what I expected. Pours a flat dark brown with a thin soapy beige head. The nose is fruity and sweet with lactose and light milky chocolate notes. Overly sweet with a fake raspberry note and a bready, salted flavour. Overall, over the top and unappealing.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle: Why do I continue to do this to myself? The beer pours shockingly dark. Almost black, some brown shining through in the light; light-khaki head that quickly fades to a collar. Surprisingly nice aroma of raspberries & cream, mild coffee, milky chocolates, & a sweet, residual sugar note, almost like cotton candy. No "pretzel", but what would that smell like? The taste, also to my surprise, is shockingly palatable. Tastes like a chocolate raspberry candy bar with a backing milky sweetness, a mild roasted malt note that comes about mid-palate, & a little bit of raspberry jam & bittering hops in the finish. Mild coffee can be picked out, too. Again, no pretzel, mostly just milk chocolate, raspberry, & coffee with some generic roasted malt flavors. Thin body, thatís really the biggest complain here. I think this would fair better as a heavier stout, just my opinion. Either way, this is by far the best Voodoo Doughnut release (not saying much, but hey...) & actually pretty tasty. In fact, I might even consider repurchase if it wasnít 13-14$ per bottle.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
From a bottle. Pours dark reddish brown with a fizzy beige head. Smells like strong chocolate, light raspberry, and very light salty pretzel. Tastes like raspberry, bready, very light chocolate. Light body and low carbonation.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Pours deep, dark brown with creamy beige head. Aroma is heavy chocolate, roast malts, raspberries, faint vanilla, and faint coffee. Flavor is chocolate dominant with berry esters, roast malts, and faint earthy notes; dry, ashy finish. Medium body and carbonation.

1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
Goofy beer. Chocolate dominated, followed by the raspberry with just a touch of pretzel. Better than last yearís.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Bruisin Ales. I seem to like these Rogue / Voodoo Doughnut collaborations better than most folks. This one was pretty much what the label suggests - Chocolate, raspberry, and pretzel, in that order. I really like crackery finish - even a little salty (?) that evokes pretzels. Hint of coffee, too, because who doesnít like coffee and doughnuts?

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
I actually found this to be very tasty. Very weird, as well. It has a very tasty raspberry chocolate beginning, with a slightly jarring pretzel finish. Overall enjoyable and weird.
