Dark cola colored beer with a tan head. Strong aromas of raspberries and dark chocolate. Tastes of bitter dark chocolate, some watery coffee, some very mild saltiness, and no raspberry flavors to speak off. Dry, chalky finish. The beer smells great but the flavors disappoint. Not bad, but not great either.

750 ml bottle from Premier Gourmet. Pours a brown with orange tint, lots of sediment and a modest-sized light tan head. Aroma is quite interesting with milk chocolate and raspberry the dominant notes, as well as some biscuity saltiness. Flavour is quite salty with milk chocolate, berry and doughy biscuit. Salty dryness in finish. Interesting and surprisingly drinkable.

Transfer from BA review on 5-5-14- Poured from bottle into a pint glass Appearance – The beer pours a dark brown color with a two finger billowy head of a light brown color. The head has a great level of retention, slowly fading over time to leave a nice level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass. Smell – The aroma of the beer is as the name would suggest, overall producing a rather interesting smell. The aroma is heaviest of a chocolate and raspberry smell, which are mixed with a very pretzel like aroma due to a mix of cracker and biscuit smells as well as a good salty smell. Overall it is actually a pretty inviting aroma. Taste – The taste begins with a chocolate and raspberry flavor that is a little bit on the thinner side. Some caramel and vanilla quickly come to the tongue along with a light biscuit taste. The biscuit transitions to a more cracker like flavor toward the middle of the taste with the raspberry getting slightly stronger toward the middle and to the end. While the cracker builds to the middle, it fades again with a slightly doughy flavor taking its place at the end. A bit of a earthiness come to the tongue at the very end of the taste, and mixes with the rest of the flavors to leave a somewhat weak chocolate, overly raspberry and oddly doughy but sort of stale taste to be left on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is very thin and more watery with a carbonation level that is on the average to lower side. While the lower carbonation could be good for the chocolate flavors of the brew, it is not good for the raspberry flavors and with the very thin body the overall feel just doesn’t support the mix flavors of the brew very well. Overall – It looks and smells very nice, but that is really where it ends. The tastes never really meld and have some off notes with a body that really doesn’t support the flavors of the brew very well at all. For the hefty price tag on the bottle, I would certainly not recommend this Voodoo ale from Rogue.

Can smell the pretzel, raspberry and chocolate..taste is much heavier on the chocolate and raspberry...like a familiar candy..the one with the spongee raspberry filling...slightly watery

Bottle the wife brought home from her boss who won it at a raffle. MUCH better than the other Voodoo Doughnut bottles. Pours a deep brown/black with brown head. Aroma is raspberry and chocolate. Taste is not cloyingly sweet chocolate but a balanced chocolate raspberry. The pretzel is slightly there with slight salt. Overall, this is not bad.

Pours dark brown with thin head. Mouth feel is slippery. All the advertised flavors show up, especially the raspberry. It’s sweet, but not cloying. The pretzel is a fun addition to the beer.

Pours a cola like look and has a cola like carbonation. On first taste a little unnatural fruity i is suppose raspberry. Then hints of caramel on chocolate. Nice salty taste on the back of the tounge. Overall an average beer. Would try it again.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown black color with a longlasting small tan head. Has a fruity malty spicy raspberry and chocolate aroma. Fruity malty sweetish chocolate and raspberry flavor with bitter hints. Has a sweetish malty chocolate finish with hints of raspberry.

Very dark brown with a bubbly beige head. Actually smells just like chocolate, pretzel, and raspberry. Taste is chocolaty and a little fruity and a bit like Dr. Pepper; some sweetness and some bitterness. Medium bodied and lightly fizzy.

Bottle @ Biskopen, Bergen. Pours a slightly hazy brown body with a medium off-white head. Nose is chocolate, raspberry, doughnuts, caramel, grains and hints of vanilla, nuts and nougat. Taste is water-based cocoa mix with raspberry extract, nougat, vanilla extract, doughnut dough, hints of caramel and nuts. Medium body and medium to high carbonation. Absolutely overdone, this is way too much stuff thrown into the mix and not really my thing at all. Original idea though, made me laugh. :-)
