kane (111), USA Mar 10, 2005 For some reason Rogue is one of the brewerys I take for granted, esp when it come to their 6-pack selection, and I am always reminded how good the beer is when go back and try it. This ESB is a prime example. Slightly hazy amber with a huge initial head (at least in my alt glass) that almost reminds me of a root-beer float, nonending. Seductive floral-citrus aroma. A nice balance of orange hop and pale malt taste. A very pleasant beer. TChrome (1298), Bedford, Texas, USA Mar 10, 2005 Pours cloudy amber with a really nice well retained off white colored head. Aroma is hoppy a bit floral and spicy. Flavor is mildy biscuity on the front then a bit of spicy hops kick in the finish. Another Rogue winner. mball581 (20), Maineville, Ohio, USA Feb 28, 2005 Nice rocky head, moderate lacing. Citrus, orange peel, toffee, and flowery hop aromas. Medium weight, nice dry finish turbo (1254), Arizona, USA Feb 27, 2005 Poured a nice red amber with a smallish head but thick lacing.
Aroma of hops and citrus.
Flavor of hops, malt, and citrus.
Nice easy drinking hopy beer.
Not bad at all. SpudClampDawg (1027), Jasper, Indiana, USA Feb 25, 2005 Golden pour, creamy ivory head - strong aroma of sweet malts, fresh bread. Smooth mouthfeel but a bit thin in the middle. The malts are light and a bit sour. Orange/lemon aftertaste. Good drinkability. ChillCoat (1029), Concord, California, USA Feb 20, 2005 On tap @ Rogue Pub SF. Hazey dark yellow/ orange color. A bit of a hop nose. Flavor was that of butter and oranges. Overall , it’s too watery. ChrisPants (317), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA Feb 18, 2005 Pours clear copper amber with nice beige head (different experience than gentleman below). Mild large-chunk lacing. Somewhat soapy cask flavor on vehicle of (willamette?) hops and clean, substantial mouthfeel. Finish is a touch metallic, but overall great for a one-of beer or for a session. jgentgesdo (564), Tulsa, Oklahoma, USA Feb 15, 2005 Pours a darker amber that is fairly cloudy, low carbonation. Nose is vegetal with some hops, fairly clean. Has more of an astringent taste that most of the ESBs I’ve tried, although the mildly bitter hops character is present. Creamy malt notes are noticably absent. Fairly watery mouthfeel and mild bitter aftertaste. OK but not the best.
