Large Barge Brown Ale is an American-style ale that is modeled after the first of its kind brewed in 1986 by Pete Slosberg. The cargo inside this Large Barge is an all-malt recipe relying on a significant amount of flavor and color from an English brown malt. Large Barge is then balanced and buoyed by American Chinook and Palisade hops. Your glass? The canal. Your hand? The tugboat. The only thing this Large Barge is missing is a radio antenna tower on top.

On tap at the Brewpub. Mitch says this was made during the "Brewer’s Olympics"; a little competition between our 5 brewers. Good idea to try different brews. This is a quiet little brown ale, and it is smooth, has a nice tight little head on it, and has a touch of mellow malt, and just a little bitter coming down. Sweet, kind hearted, and better than Newcastle with more up-front flavor.
