COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A strong ale that starts out sweet and malty with an alcoholic warming in the finish. Very smooth going down but it packs quite a kick.

On tap at rohrbach's pub. Pours mahogany amber with small off white head. Nose is sweet with additions of raisin and toffee. Taste follows with a plum and faint stone fruit. Well balanced and a strong body. Solid.

The body has a nice dark brown color with deep amber highlights. It raises an average 1.5 to 2 inch beige head. The head holds on well and makes some cool lacing on the glass. In the nose I pick up a good toasted malts character with lots malt sweetness and candy like sweetness as well. Also way off in the background I get a hint of citrus and herbal hops. The flavor is full of toasted malt and grain sweetness with some light fruity candy like sweetness as well. The hops offer a slight herbal back note and just the slightest bitterness near the finish. For such a firm malty beer it is quite drinkable and the sweetness never gets out of control. It has a smooth mellow feel with mild carbonation.

Tap at the brewery tasting room. Rich malt nose, some smoke and peach, orange. Orange-amber colored, dark, with lace. Sweet and fruity flavor, with stewed stone fruits. A bit rough. Not as good as I remembered.

Sample at the brewpub on 7/1/13. Pours a clear amber color with a medium tan head. Aroma of malt and slight peat; kinda faint. Malty and caramelly nose with light fruit and a bit of peat before a sweet finish.

Red-brown, small tan head. Aroma is ok although underwhelming, sweet malts and bourbon-like. Medium body, little bit sweet and sticky. Flavor is mostly on the sweet side, buttery-malt flavors typical of scotch ale but somehow despite that is a little on the thin side. Some warm alcohol in finish. Not bad, nothing special.

From a growler at BotW. Clear brown pour, little to no head. Smells pretty good, sweet caramel. Feels quite thin after expecting some heft from the label. Ok taste, got the hallmark scotch flavours, but not as big as I?d hoped, and tinged with a soapy vibe. Defo not a repeater, but I live 100s of miles away so the chances aren?t good anyway. There are far better scotches out there, including one from honeyoye falls just down the road.
