The difference between RR and the typical American standards is that there is something to taste here besides a grainy aftertaste. This can be a good thing if you just have one or two and they are fresh and its a hot summer barbeque. This can be a really revolting experience otherwise.

my favorite ’cheapie’ beer. it’s got some strange flavor/taste that sets it apart from the other watery beers...i’ve never noticed that taste in any other beer. i wonder if that’s a good thing...<G>

UPDATED: MAR 22, 2005 Wish I could rate it higher -- not because its that good, but because its been with me like a faithful companion through good times and bad. The cheapest beer I will usually buy, along with PBR, and I would have to say that despite the green bottle I’ve never had a skunky one. At this point, I’ve probably consumed more of these than anything else. If Newcastle was this cheap, though . . .
2003: there is nothing worse than losing an old friend. Not through death: of course that is awful, but what can you do about it? When you must part ways, though, because your friend has become stupid, lacklustre, boring; because you have grown and your friend has stuck with his pedestrian ways; because you search for the finer things in life and your friend is mired in the muck of the lowbrow American anti-intellectual culture, when you find yourself arguing with your friend always, about everything, because he’s such a DAMN BLOCKHEAD...but when this friend has given you so much, been there for you for so many years, helped you through good times and bad, easy to find, easy to talk to, ready and willing...well, it’s a sad day. A very sad day. Goodbye old friend...I wish I could say I’ll miss you.
